I will be including a basic guide on how to count with binary. Don't worry as it is fairly simple. This is a simplified version of the Digicomp II mechanical calculator. This does not include the features used in division and subtraction The calculator comes pre-loaded with the equation 7 x 10 in case you don't want to learn how to use it If you already know how to count with binary then you only need to read "Calculator Basics" (for listing parts and where they are located) and "How to use" (for operating the calculator) How the Binary Counting System Works Binary is the system used by computer to store memory and to make computations. This is because the only thing a computer "knows" is on or off. Binary is a way of counting and storing information only using on or off. (represented by 1's and 0's) Binary shares several similarities to the decimal system we use every day. in the decimal system be have ten symbols to represent numbers, (0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9) and we use different combinations of these symbols to make larger number for instance 13 which is made up of both the 1 in the tens place and the 3 symbol in the ones place. any time you run out of options for the number of digits you have you simply add another onto the end and it continues 9 =>10, 99 =>100, 999 =>1000, etc. This is the same with binary. when counting since you only have 2 symbols you add on more often however it still uses the same principal.
