akarnokd Powershell Mod Update

Description

akarnokd has a LOT of mods on his Github and has done an awesome job keeping up with the game updates.  I don't play that often, but, I do like a certain set of mods he's put out when I do play.  With the number of mods I do use, sometimes, it's awkward to update them individually.

There are two ways to 'interact' with this script.  The first method is just running the script as stated below.  This will go out to Github and attempt to pull the last 10 updates put out, and then give you a numbered list to which version of the repo you want to install, and the script takes it from there.  The other option on how to interact with this is you specify the exact version at the command line.

Known Issues

COMPATIBILITY

- As it stands, this mod is not compatible with how NexusMods/Vortex manages akarnokd’s mods. Vortex handles the DLL files differently from the installation method specified by akarnokd, and this script follows the instructions provided in his GitHub repository. If you choose to use this script to manage these mods, you should disable Vortex management for them, install them manually according to the repository guidelines, and then use this script for ongoing management.

- I’ll test it, but I’m hesitant to change the current behaviour because of this conflict. It’s unclear which tool would take precedence—Vortex may overwrite the DLLs on each run, even after this script updates them. At that point, it becomes a tug-of-war between two managers trying to control the same files, each enforcing a different approach.

DOWNLOADS

- GitHub release information can be inconsistent, so “latest” isn’t always the most stable option—there are cases where the newest release is broken or causes crashes even at the main menu in game. If that happens, simply rerun the script and select a previous version. This is mainly because akarnokd publishes mods for both development and stable versions of the game, and without fully parsing or scraping GitHub (which I want to avoid), this approach is the most practical workaround for now.

Installation instructions

• []Browse to https://github.com/Pontiac76/Mods/tree/master/Planet%20Crafter and download the lone PS1 script, save it to your BepInEx\plugins directory (You can read the ReadMe if you want?)[/]

  []Open powershell (Start> Run> powershell) or the command prompt (Start> Run> CMD) - You do not need to launch this as an administrator.[/]

  []Change Directory into the  BepInEx\plugins directory and run the script.  For example:

  cd "G:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\The Planet Crafter\BepInEx\plugins"

  powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File [/]

    []Extract the contents (One powershell script) directly to your BepInEx\plugins directory[/]

      Tested on Win10 Pro with PowerShell.  I've not setup PowerShell in my own Linux instances to validate whether it works there or not.
