Katapult Schwarzkopf 80`s coaster (kermis funfair carnival kirmes)

In fact it is a figure-8-layout with one end raised up 90 degrees. The friction-drive, which is also used as a brake, propells the train in both directions offering riders a forward and backward experience. Beside the Katapult, no other Schwarzkopf coaster was equipped with a 9-section train. Also unique is the fact, that these particular trains were equipped with over-the-shoulder-restrains in addition to their regular safety-bars (lapbar). The question for the very first Katapult is not an easy one because given informations differ. - Showmen companies Altrogge / Heitmann, Germany, started (as pretended) im August 1980 at "Stoppelmarkt" fair in Vechta. - Showmen company Witte, Germany, started (as pretended) in July 1980 at "Sommerdom" fair in Hamburg. Note: The coaster owned by showmen companies Altrogge / Heitmann became a moviestar in "Looping", which is a german film production from 1981. A total of five Katapult coasters were built.
