Description

This mod is a Japanese-learning text mod for Octopath Traveler 0.

It is made for players who want to play with:

Text Language: English

Voice Language: Japanese

The goal is to make the game useful for Japanese reading practice while still keeping it playable and understandable in English.

This mod has three standalone file variants.

You only need to install one of them.

File versions

1. DualLearning Expanded P

Basic learning-text version.

Adds Japanese text with furigana-style kana readings above the existing English text for selected regular / non-VO text.

Format example:

俺《おれ》は何《なに》をすればいい？

So what do you need me to do?

This uses Aozora-style furigana format:

No romaji is included.

This version focuses on readable learning text such as:

  []Sidequest-related text[/]

  []Quest/objective-style text[/]

  []Tutorial/help-style text[/]

  []Description-style text where suitable[/]

Compact UI text is avoided where possible because dual-language text can look messy or overflow.

2. JPNamesCommands V2 Merged

Recommended version.

This is a standalone V2 variant based on DualLearning Expanded P.

It keeps the V1 bilingual learning text and also adds official Japanese names/commands for frequently repeated RPG terms.

Optional monster-name version.

This is the same as JPNamesCommands V2 Merged, but also changes 304 normal monster names to official Japanese.

Bosses and uncertain enemies stay English.

Use this version if you want more Japanese exposure during battles.
