DESCRIPTION

TorchLight is a lightweight quality-of-life mod that lets players drop their lit torch on the ground. Designed to feel as if it belonged in the game all along. Uses vanilla OBScript only, no OBSE.

In Vanilla Oblivion, when the player drops their equipped torch from their inventory, a lightless log falls to the ground at their feet leaving the player to rely on magical equipment or spells and abilities like Candle Light or Nighteye, or not be able to use their favorite loadout in order to see while fighting in the dark places of the world. I hated that for my non-magic playthroughs. TorchLight exists to remedy this by automatically dropping your lit torch when switching to off-hand equipment. Whenever exploring caves, Ayleid ruins, forts, or the wilderness after dark, simply pick up your torch and mush on!

Managing your torch is now deliberate. Unequip your shield and sheath your bow or two-hander to use your torch. If you do not want to drop your torch, put away your torch before equipping shields, drawing bows, and two-handed weapons. Otherwise your equipped torch will drop on the floor and stay lit. This is by design.

Conflicts with any mod that changes the Torch02 EditorID

Mod-added shields need to be added to the whitelist in the TLPlayerTorchTokenScript

INSTALLATION

Packaged to install with Vortex or your favorite mod manager, or manually place the files into your Oblivion Remastered Data folder.

Enable the plugin and ensure it is active in your load order and plugins.txt.

UINSTALLATION

Before uninstalling:

Ensure you are not carrying a lit torch.

Open the console and enter:

  []Set TLDebugMode to 0 (not necessary for v1. 0. 1 or later)[/]

  []Player. RemoveItem TLPlayerTorchToken[/]

Remove TorchLight.esp

Reload your save and save again in a new slot.
