📋 About This Mod

===== Minimal Setup =====

To activate the smoothing, follow these steps :

1. Ensure the game is closed.

2. Find "Altar.ini" file on your computer, which is located by default at this path (for Steam version) :

C:\Users\\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\Config\Windows

3. Open the file with a text editor (default Notepad will do).

4. Copy paste these two lines at the end of the file (which can be empty if edited for the first time) :

bDefaultUseFakeRootLocationInterpolation=true

5. Save and close.

6. Launch the game.

  • []Applies to all Character/Creatures, including player and NPCs.

    []The smoothing is stronger at higher speeds (will have less effect when walking).

  • You can find a showcase video in the Files section (couldn't upload it here).

==== Optional Settings ====

Here are some optional parameters that can be added to the "Altar.ini" file if you want (add the lines under "bDefaultUseFakeRootLocationInterpolation=true") :

1. Enable(=true) or disable(=false) the smoothing for humanoïds like player and NPCs (true by default) :

bDefaultInterpolateFakeRootForHumanoids=true

2. Enable(=true) or disable(=false) the smoothing for creatures (true by default) :

bDefaultInterpolateFakeRootForCreatures=true

3. Restrain the smoothing interpolation to Z axis only (if false, the interpolation will also act on X and Y axis, making the characters slide a bit on the floor). Enabling this setting (as by default) seems better :

bDefaultInterpolateFakeRootOnlyZAxis=true

4. Setting to tune the max lag distance (in centimeters) between the current character/camera location, and the expected location. If nearly zero, it will remove all smoothness (character will stick to expected location). Greater values will increase the resistance to abrupt location changes like when walking on rocks or stairs (but will also increase the lag recovery when running on stiff slopes). 50cm, seems fine :

DefaultMaxFakeRootDistanceFromCapsule=50. 0

5. Time (in seconds) to make the character/camera rejoin their expected location when interpolation stops (like when jumping). Setting this to very big values will make you character regularly float in the air (0. 5s seems fine to keep a correct behavior) :

DefaultTimeToRejoinRootWhenStoppingFakeRootInterp=0. 5
