📋 About This Mod
My adaptation of the mod Sigil Stone Selector. That mod lets you choose your Sigil Stone when you close an Oblivion Gate. Instead, this mod leaves the initial Sigil Stone you get when closing the Oblivion Gate random, but you can change its effects to your choice at the cost of a Varla Stone.
Finally you have a good reason to seek out those rare Varla Stones in Ayleid Ruins!
How to use-
[]Have a Varla Stone and Sigil Stone in your inventory.
[]Drop the Sigil Stone you want to change from your inventory to the ground.
[]Pick up the Sigil Stone again, a messagebox menu pops up. Choose "Yes".
[]Go through the resulting messagebox(es) and choose the enchantment effects you want.
[]You'll get a confirmation message, then you can find your transmuted Sigil Stone in your inventory.
Special notes
- []If you choose the same effect that the Sigil Stone already had, you will still lose a Varla Stone.
- The new Sigil Stone will be appropriate for your current level, so if you don't have another mod that auto-levels your Sigil Stones, this mod gives a way to upgrade them.
NEW: Alternative Version
The alternative version upgrades a Sigil Stone exactly one tier every time it's transmuted, regardless of player character level. You can theoretically get a lowest tier Sigil Stone to the highest tier at the cost of 4 Varla Stones while your character is still level 1. Possibly overpowering, but you'll have worked for it!
Compatibility
Compatible with anything that doesn't edit Sigil Stones directly. Compatible with Sigil Stone Selector, although somewhat rendundant.
Manual install
Drop the ESP plugin in Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data
Add it to your Plugins.txt in that same folder.
Credits
Credits to Omnishambles9 for letting me use his script as a base!
Credits to kpvw for allowing me to incorporate their "Visible Sigil Stone Effects" mod for better Sigil Stone names, and their convenient xEdit script to do so!
Sigil Stone Transmuter lets you choose your Sigil Stone enchantment effects by spending a Varla Stone, with a chance to upgrade the Sigil Stone tier to your current level. A gameplay overhaul for Oblivion players who want more control over their enchantments.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Gives you control over Sigil Stone enchantments, no more random rolls.
- Varla Stone cost adds a meaningful trade-off for powerful effects.
- Tier upgrade potential makes it useful for endgame min-maxing.
⚠️ Cons
- Requires Varla Stones, which are rare and valuable—might not be worth it early.
- Only affects Sigil Stones, so if you're not into enchanting, this mod is useless.
- Compatibility risk with other mods that alter Sigil Stones or Varla Stones.
For Oblivion players who hate the random enchantment on Sigil Stones and want to tailor their gear. Also great for min-maxers who want the highest tier enchantments without grinding. Skip if you rarely use Sigil Stones or prefer vanilla randomness.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Keep a few Varla Stones in your inventory before using the transmuter—they're rare, so plan ahead.
- If you're using a mod manager, install this with OBMM or Wrye Bash to avoid conflicts.
- Test the tier upgrade on a low-level character to see how it scales before committing.
