Place all files in The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Paks

My exercise in mesh hiding/showing, and NNRM textures

If you want to fully retexture, editing the NNRM is necessary or the old texture will kinda show through

For my lesson you need GIMP:

1. Export the NNRM in fmodel, import into gimp. Go to Colors>Components>Decompose, and decompose into rgba

2. Red and Green are normals/depth, blue is roughness, and alpha is metallic. roughness can also affect how metallic it looks

For Red Layer: I import my diffuse texture (_D), convert to grayscale under colors>desaturate, and then adjust the colors>curves until it looks like stock in terms of tone

Merge your texture with Red

For Green Layer: Copy the new Red and "Colors>invert" the colors. Merge with Green

For Blue Layer: Is it metal? paint it black. Is it Cloth? paint it white. Is it Wood? Stop asking questions, I don't know

For Alpha Layer: It looked good leaving it black for cloth, but play with it

3. Rebuild it. Colors>Components>Compose or Recompose

4. When you go to export as a png, UNCHECK "save background color" And DO CHECK "save color values from transparent pixels". Pack the exported png into your UE project and go from there, naming correctly and such.

5. Now do that like 10 times, adjusting the individual channels, repacking the mod and checking in game until your happy with how it looks. If there is an easier way, someone tell me.

It's kinda vague, and may not work 100% for your use case but maybe it'll get ya close, and save you a day learning that much by trial and error
