📋 About This Mod
MODDER'S RESOURCE
This mod should be edited with x edit to include new esps of remaster like altarmainesp.
Anyway, works fine to me.
Hint: it's not mandatory, but using NL tag remover is recommended, or every weapon will show the NL tag.
SUMMARY OF WHAT THIS MOD DOES:
ALL weapons's ranges matches with their mesh,no longer "spear" Battle axes or War hammers.
Giant creatures's reach is set from a multipler of 2. 2 to 1
ALL weapons's weight is cut in half
Claymores do +25% damages
Battle axes do +50% damages
War hammers do double damages
War axes do +25% damages
Maces do +50% damages
The weapon's weight, affect more the stamina usage
Block's stamina usaged reworked to be more comfortable and coexist with weapon's stamina usage i did.
Armors get 50% less damages from attacks
Weapon hits, consume the weapon a bit faster
Weapons's "health" depends from the weight and damages they have, so bigger weapons will be a lot resistant and smaller ones fragiles.
When a weapon is totally fucked up deals from 50% to 25% damages...repair it! Anyway, this grants better extra damage when you repair your weapon above it's max health.
EXPLANATION
weapons ranges were ported here from old oblivion, but new models and animations, don't make weapon's mesh match with the hit spot, resulting that battle axes and other short weapons have a high range, when effectively they dont.
I figured out a way to measure the weapon's range with actually measuring it.
I tried fists for first.
Game settings say they have 0. 6 reach (below that reach, AI messes and act weird, i mean that if you jump on a table they can't reach you, but you can).
Then i loaded the game, set the most far camera i could and put it above my character's head.
Then i threw some punches (to perform full combo a plenty of times) and measured the distance from my character's center of heat to the farest point reached from a punch.
I measured a middle value of 5,5 cantimeters.
Then, considering that the top camera angle is not 90° but something like 80°, i did a calculations with radials and resulted that the value i measured have to be multiplied for 1,085.
Then, the game unit of distance is 1,4285 centimeters and so on, i aproximated it to 1,43.
The value i calculated had to be divided to 1,43.
It resulted that my new punches range was about 0. 45.
I tried to set it and resulted that the contact point of punches actually matched with character's meshes, but there was a problem...
Stupid IA, below 0. 6 start to mess around when there is a slope difference...i tried ot to tweak if from game setting from 48 to 96 but didn't work.
It happened it also in f
Sambuca's Weapons Overhaul is a modder's resource that overhauls melee combat mechanics to be more immersive, realistic, and tactical. With 32 endorsements and nearly 6,000 downloads, it's a niche tool for modders looking to build on improved melee systems.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Decent download count (5,944) shows real interest in the concept.
- Being a modder's resource means it can be integrated into larger projects.
- Focus on tactical melee could add depth for combat-focused players.
⚠️ Cons
- Low endorsement count (32) suggests it's not widely tested or polished.
- As a resource, it's not a plug-and-play overhaul; you need modding know-how.
- Potential compatibility issues with other combat mods that alter the same mechanics.
For mod authors who want to build a more immersive melee system into their own mods. Also for players who enjoy tinkering with combat mechanics and are willing to integrate this resource. Skip if you want a ready-to-use combat overhaul without extra setup.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's a modder's resource, you'll likely need to edit scripts or integrate it into your own mod—check the file structure for compatibility.
- If you're using it as a player, make sure to load it after other combat mods to avoid conflicts.
- Test in a separate save to see how the melee changes feel before committing to a playthrough.
