Donations are welcome but -only- from those in a comfortable position to do so.❤️
Replacer - no standalone versions planned.
Uses only vanilla assets so this should be compatible with any retextures.
Note
If you like the vanilla Orc style you simply must check out Orcish Armor Rework by CrunchyThunder. It is technically compatible with this mod, though the more slimmed down style may clash with the bulkiness of this helmet and you'll have to pick just one of the helmet styles. I am personally using that mod for my Orc playthrough and I absolutely love it. Anyway, on to this mod.
Full best and body type support.
I know Oblivion is mostly a Wester/European/LOTR styled world, but some equipment, such as the Orc and Blades/Akaviri sets, have some clearly Asian influences that I wanted to double down on. I went for something vaguely representative of the late Northern Song Dynasty (mostly in terms of silhouette.) Specifically I took ques from the Liao Dynasty and (late) Song Dynasty era lamellar Zhou designs. Like my European styled helmets, this is not historically accurate, but it (hopefully) maintains the Elder Scrolls vibe with a bit more realism tossed in.
Ideally, I'd love to give this the animation bones of a hood or the Chainmail helm so that the lower section would deform and move more organically with the head and have with much less clipping. But Iunno how to do that. Currently it's very stiff, but I tried to model it such that there aren't too many gappy situations during normal gameplay.

A simple cosmetic mod that replaces the Orcish helmet in Skyrim with a Chinese Zhou helmet featuring a Dunxiang neck guard. With 101 endorsements and over 6,400 downloads, it's a niche but appreciated armor replacer for players seeking historical Asian-inspired designs.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 101 endorsements and over 6,400 downloads
- Offers a unique historical aesthetic that stands out from vanilla Orcish gear
- Lightweight mod that doesn't overhaul the entire armor set, just the helmet
⚠️ Cons
- Only affects the helmet, so it won't change the rest of the Orcish armor set
- May conflict with other mods that alter the Orcish helmet mesh or textures
- Niche appeal—if you're not into historical Chinese armor, this won't add much
For Skyrim players who want to give their Orc characters a distinctive, historically-inspired helmet without overhauling the whole armor set. If you're into Asian history or just want a fresh look for your Orc warrior, this is a solid pick. Skip it if you prefer lore-friendly vanilla designs or want more comprehensive armor changes.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since this is a simple mesh/texture replacer, just drop the files into your Data folder or use a mod manager like Vortex or Mod Organizer 2.
- Make sure to load this mod after any other mods that modify the Orcish helmet to ensure it takes priority.
- If you're using a mod that changes the Orcish armor set, check for compatibility patches or load order adjustments to avoid conflicts.
