📋 About This Mod
Oblivion has always felt like a living, breathing world in my eyes. Now, with permission for a rerelease from mixxa77, NPCs are more alive than ever before! An insane amount of NPCs have been modified from every city in Cyrodiil, from Bravil all the way to the illustrious Imperial City and its districts.
I'll let mixxa77 explain, with an excerpt from their original description:
Inspired by the mod 'NPCs Alive Release 1' by XFusion, I thought about enhancing the lives of vanilla NPCs by making more use of the game's Radiant AI system (and some experimental trickery with it), because many NPCs don't seem to do much, sometimes not even leaving their home. This mod tries to improve this, by giving many prior bland NPCs more to do (Smiths will now smith, Alchemists will do potion making, people will visit more areas and shops) and then randomize these new behaviors. These NPCs will now also, when visiting a place like a shop, sit down. Almost no one seems to ever use furniture ... except for sleeping or eating.
And, of course, this also includes an expansion of the Imperial City's NPC schedules. The main IC districts are all covered, with NPCs from all over the city traveling between districts to shop, dine, and explore. All NPCs have had their stats set in xEdit to AltarESPMain.esp variables, including localization. The Waterfront is next up on my plans, along with new traveling NPCs.
Keep in mind:
- Please, place near the bottom of your load order. This edits a load of NPCs, and mods that overwrite schedules and such will break things
- Best used on a new save, but feel free to test how it works on an existing playthrough either way!
- You may run into bugs from the original/updated code. I'll fix 'em asap
- This is still Oblivion, there will be much weirdness to see
- May include invisible props during select few animations
- May cause trainer NPCs to be tough to find, as they're exploring their cities randomly
Installation is simple:
- Download the main file, NPCs Come to Life - Naiad Edition :)
- Drop "NaiadComestoLife.esp" into your "Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data" folder
- Update plugins.txt (found within the same folder) with the new .esp name
Adding onto the overall radness of NPCs Come to Life, this standalone expansion adds traveling soldiers to roads, as well as a fully-fledged mail delivery service. Every county now has a few soldiers patrolling the roads between major cities, and Delivers-The-Mail's Postal Service has opened to the public!
