MoABP - Bows and Arrows

Mother of All Weapon Balance Patches (MoABP) is a mod that aims to fix weapon type balance adjusting all other weapon to match Longsword DPS. However, it only touched melee weapons, not bows. This is an extension that boosts Bow and Arrow damage to match the DPS and material progression of Longswords.

From frame counting while spam-clicking, I recorded longsword averaging 2. 36s per 3-hit combo (averaging to 0. 79s per swing). Similarly for bows, the average minimum shot time was 2. 29s. Thus, the vanilla base damage dps values should be:

• []Iron Longsword with 10 base damage has 12. 69 dps.

  []Iron Bow and Arrows with 20 base damage has 8. 74 dps.

  []Daedric Longsword with 24 base damage has 31. 72 dps.

  []Daedric Bow and Arrows with 46 base damage has 20. 1 dps.

  So Bows have ~66% the DPS of Longswords. Further more, you usually need to hold the bow longer than the minimum time to aim and add power for distance (minimum time fires a weak arrow that travels only a short distance). Although, that could be said for other weapons blocking or dodging in real combat too.

  Thus, Bow and Arrow base damage values have been buffed 20-50% where appropriate (to keep Bow vs Arrow base damage ratio the same per material tier). Bow DPS now averages 2. 5% below Longsword DPS, instead of 34. 3% below Longsword DPS.

  To compensate for higher base damage, I made an optional download that reduces the Bow Sneak multiplier from 2x (3x with Sneak 25+) to 1. 5x (2x with Sneak 25+), so as not to overshadow melee sneak attacks.

  • []Because this touches Arrow records, it is not compatible with reduced Arrow weight mods.

  • []Weapons enchanted by the player before mod installation may NOT have base damage updated.
