📋 About This Mod
Makes the warning messages like "you cannot wait when enemies are nearby" less annoying, by halving the minumum enemy distance for these messages. Now, a random nearby mudcrab or other creature is less likely to keep you from waiting, sleeping or fast travelling to somwhere. You still cannot wait, sleep or fast travel while in combat.
This mod changes the following two game settings to:
fHostileActorExteriorDistance = 1500 (halved from 3000 in vanilla)
fHostileActorInteriorDistance = 1000 (halved from 2000 in vanilla)
1. Download the main file.
2. Extract LessAnnoyingEnemiesNearbyWarnings.esp to your Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data folder.
3. Add LessAnnoyingEnemiesNearbyWarnings.esp to the end of the contents of your Plugins.txt file, which is located in the same folder as above.
A small gameplay tweak that lets you wait, sleep, and fast travel while enemies are closer than the default threshold. With 186 endorsements and 10,099 downloads, it's a niche quality-of-life mod for players who find the vanilla restriction too strict.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-tested with 186 endorsements and over 10k downloads—clearly fills a need.
- Directly addresses a common annoyance without overhauling the game.
- Tiny footprint means it's unlikely to cause performance issues.
⚠️ Cons
- Niche appeal—if you rarely hit the enemy proximity limit, this does nothing for you.
- May trivialize stealth or escape scenarios if you rely on the restriction for challenge.
- Potential compatibility risk with other mods that alter wait/sleep/fast travel mechanics.
For players who hate being blocked from fast traveling or sleeping just because a bandit is wandering nearby. If you're a completionist who wants to skip time without hunting down every last enemy, this is a handy QoL tweak. Skip it if you enjoy the tension of being forced to clear an area before resting.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Check your game's mod manager or manual install folder to ensure the file is placed correctly.
- If you use other gameplay mods, test this one early to see if it conflicts with their changes.
- Remember that this only affects the proximity check—enemies still detect you normally otherwise.
