Launch OBSE from Steam

If you want to use mods that need OBSE64 and want to launch the game directly from steam, this mod is for you.

I use the term mod rather loosely, as this is actually just a bat file and a launch parameter.

I have disabled installation via Vortex, because I do not know if it would work. The manual installation should work with it.

Mod Organizer 2 users do not benefit from this mod, as it does not install the mods directly to the games folder.

Downloading and running unverified bat files from the internet is VERY DANGEROUS. Always check the contents of any bat files before running them.

• []Open the game's folder by right-click on it in steam and selecting " Mange > Browse local files"

  []Place the bat file into the folder that opens

  []Open the game's properties by right-click on it in steam and selecting "Properties"

  []Add the following to the game's launch parameters "start_obse.bat" %command%

  Technical Details

  Now you might be asking how this works. I'll explain to the best of my ability.

  Firstly, the bat file includes a single line"OblivionRemastered\Binaries\Win64\obse64_loader.exe"

  This simply runs obse64_loader.exe.

  The reason this bat file is needed is the second bit.

  From my understanding, the launch parameter %command% tells steam to run the specified file instead of the normal executable. You might be familiar with it, if you have ever used the Stardew Valley Modding API, as it prompts you to add a similar launch parameter.

  Now, you would think that we could just run obse64_loader.exe directly, and we can, but it won’t launch the game. It fails to launch because of the extra parameter %command%. Thus, we need a bat file that does not care about it.
