📋 About This Mod

A game setting loader to be used in place of UE4SS by compiling the changes to altar.ini and engine.ini before running the game.

UE4SS Game Settings Loader by Godschildgaming is an amazing piece of code. But changing initial variables at runtime, especially when the rest of the game is loading is only asking for trouble since this essentially means we're racing to see which values will be used first (i.e. race condition), not to mention instability.

This one borrows the idea from MagicLoader 2 by vibrantruin, compiling the changes first before running the game and writing it all to Altar.ini (and optionally modifies Engine.ini for ). This way we can avoid any issues caused by patching the values at runtime. And like the original, it is made compatible with Game Settings Loader by powerofthree. In fact, I'd say it's required to keep any game settings consistent on both sides.

Like the original, it checks in two paths:

  • []{Game Root}\OblivionRemastered\Binaries\{Win64/GDK}\OBSE\Plugins\GameSettings[/]

    []{Game Root}\OblivionRemastered\Binaries\{Win64/GDK}\GameSettings[/]

And checks two headers in each file:

  • [] (Corresponding to  in Altar.ini)[/]

    [] (Corresponding to  in Engine.ini)[/]

Installation:

Place the executable in either:

  • []The game root (alongside MagicLoader or OblivionRemastered.exe), or[/]

    []The Win64/GDK folder (with OBSE64, UE4SS, or OblivionRemastered-Win64-Shipping.exe)[/]

You can then add it to MO2 or Vortex and manage it like any other tool.

Like MagicLoader 2, this tool can optionally launch another program after it finishes patching. To launch another program afterward, pass its name as an argument like OblivionRemastered, OblivionRemastered-Win64-Shipping, obse64_loader, or MagicLoader (with or without '.exe'). Additional arguments for tools that support it like --cook and --keepopen for MagicLoader are supported. Full paths also work.

For example, MagicLoader --cook --keepopen runs both and keeps the console open so you can review the output of both of them before closing.

Also, if whatever mod manager you're using doesn't support passing arguments, you can simply rename GSLoader.exe into something like GSLoader;OblivioonRemastered.exe or GSLoader;MagicLoader;--keepopen.exe. Separate each argument with a semicolon ";"

Depending on how your user profile is set up on your OS, you might need to run this application as administrator.

Notes:

Also, since this tool may edit Engine.ini for physics settings, it is recommended to make
