Food Gives Health

Sometimes I find myself without potions but a plethora of food... and I miss the ability to just eat them to regain health,

so this is the result of that want.

Update 05/10/2025:

New Food Gives Health Over Time file that restores health over time instead of instantly. It's not super slow, but it's not instant. The items that restore 5 hp give 1hp per second. The ones that restore 10 give 5 per second for two seconds, 15 give 5 per second for 3 seconds, etc.

Update 05/08/2025:

New! Food Gives Health! I lowered the amount of health the breads give, removed the sweetcake from the file since it was already lower, and left off the foods that already restored health. I also left in the restore fatigue effect instead of having it replaced. They now have 5 effects instead of 4. The information screen will still show 4 but the alchemy UI shows that they have 5. Not sure why or how to show five in the info screen in the items section.

I'm leaving the original Bread Gives Health option up for those who just want that and prefer to have those values. I will, however, work on making a file that allows the items to restore health over time instead of all at once.

Install instructions are the same, but instead of putting BreadGivesHealth.esp in your plugins.txt put FoodGivesHealth.esp instead and save.

This is just a simple esp file that makes it so Bread Loaf, Sweet Roll, Cheese Wedge and Cheese Wheel restore health when you eat them. It also boots the restore health effect of the Sweetcake to 60 instead of 45, though I still need to check if it gives you the health when you eat it. Haven't run into one yet to give it a shot.

The Bread Loaf, Sweet Roll, Cheese Wedge and Cheese Wheel are also now used in Restore Health alchemy potions instead of restore fatigue, as the restore fatigue effect is replaced with the restore health potion effect. Plus, there are so many ingredients with restore fatigue effect that these won't really be missed.

Bread Loaf gives the same amount of health as the weak restore health potion.

Sweet Roll gives slightly more than Bread Loaf.

Sweetcake was increased from 45 to 60.

Cheese Wedge gives slightly more than Bread Loaf.

Cheese Wheel gives quite a bit more.

Download and unzip the file into your data folder at the following location:

E:\Program Files E Drive\Steam\steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data

I don't have the other versions so I don't know what their install paths look like, but it should be similar.

Once in your data folder edit your Plugins.txt and put BreadGivesHealth.esp to the list, then save it.

To uninstall:

Just delete the BreadGivesHealt
