Editable Sign (Modders resource)

An experiment with playing with UE blueprints, born from the desire to somehow be able to label chests to distinguish the contents.

This file contains a blueprint + forms + ue4ss mod + meshes + an .esp that can be used as a master (or as an example) to get a simple ingame editable text sign.

The sign can be interacted with as usual (though there might be a small gap where the cursor switches to activator but the sign is not responsive yet), player can input any text (char number limited by the mesh in use) which will be stored in (and loaded from) an .ini file on the user PC.

The sign requires to be places via an .esp, although the "placeatme" command should work as well. An example plugin is provided (it's a mod that adds a storage room to the froscrag spire - and caused this idea to be born to begin with -, two variants are used in it and it has the EditableSign.esp as master). Unfortunately, the corresponding .nif files are not the same size as the final meshes, so the results look weird in CS.

3 sign variants are provided, more can be created by making a new form with retoc + UAssetGui and changing the "NewMesh" paramether to point to a different static mesh.

Requires ue4ss (for tessync map injection and loading/storing the text strings), ML is actually optional, but was used to get rid of the NL tag.
