📋 About This Mod
**PLEASE SET YOUR GAME DIFFICULTY TO "MASTER" FOR THE MOD TO WORK PROPERLY**This mod introduces a much-needed progressive difficulty level that ramps up gradually as you level up.
Oblivion is notorious for being a game that gets easier as you level up. On top of that, the default difficulty settings are a joke. I firmly believe it is not the player's duty to have to constantly change the difficulty manually to get a challenge. This mod aims to fill the gap, so that the game stays challenging for the majority of your run. Introducing: Dynamic Difficulty, a fair and gradual increase to game difficulty as you level up.
The game will automatically adjust the difficulty based on your current level, all you have to do is keep the difficulty on Master and the game will take care of itself.
Two versions of the mod have been provided: Standard or Hardcore. Please only have one of these files active at a time.
If you want to see the specific damage multipliers per level, check out the uploaded images where you can see the chart for both Hardcore and Standard mode. You will notice that, for levels in tier 1, an increment of 5% in damage taken and 5% deduction to damage dealt is applied per level. On Tier 2 (starting at level 20), we begin applying 10% jumps. The logic behind this is that by level 20, the player already has very powerful gear, spells, etc. thus the game has to more aggressively ramp the difficulty to keep up with the player.
Interestingly, on Hardcore mode, you will reach the Vanilla Expert difficulty (3. 5x multiplier) at level 30. Whoever thought this difficulty was good at level 1 should not be allowed to design games!
These difficulties have been tested and are intended for the player to have a fair chance at survival through organic gameplay on any type of build. For example, you should be able to slay a single bandit without much risk, but you will certainly die on a 1v2 if you don't have a good strategy. For absolute meta builds, the game may not be as challenging, but this mod was not built with those players in mind. Compared to Vanilla Expert, you will no longer have to stress about dying to a wolf cub in the wild, but you will have to think twice before facing a vampire. A true hardcore "deathless" run should be achievable through skill alone without the need for cheese, meta builds, excessive dependency on Alchemy, powerleveling, or any other boring meta techs.
The game will be challenging, but fair.
