📋 About This Mod
This mod is meant to fix crashes (related to fast travel/loading new locations/etc.). This is not necessarily meant to improve performance but more so to find the right balance between graphics/lighting/performance/crash reduction/stability
I played around with some other mods and got some AI help to fix my issues. If you're an AMD user and feel like you have tried everything, I think I actually have a solution for you. Definitely go check out user @smokernaruto and his mod because this is where I started and I just want to give credit where it's due. Be prepared to fiddle with in-game settings by the way (I will drop mine down below). For full transparency, I am running an AMD Ryzen 5 7600x and AMD Radeon RX 6600 and am rolling with the most recently updated driver (Adrenalin 25. 5. 1 at time of writing) and running the game as administrator (select the .exe file, right click and select Properties, go under Compatibility, toggle on "Run as Administrator", hit Apply, hit, OK).
The idea behind this mod is that it maintains some lighting effects by disabling intensive Ray Tracing, FSR, and some Lumen to achieve a crash-free experience without turning down Global Illumination Quality to Low to avoid those annoying flickering/shimmering shadows on foliage some walls. At the end of the day, my goal is just to get you to play this game without crashing and not make AS MUCH of a sacrifice on lighting.
After I made this thing I was enjoying a medium experience at 1080p mostly between 40-60 FPS (I capped it at 60 for stability btw so idk how much I'm actually capable of getting). With this mod, I really just want to help you get there if you aren't already.
(Edit: Please disable all in-game FSR and set your GPU settings to default, disabling any overlay and FreeSync/Anti-Lag/etc.)
Directions
1. Download the mod
2. Go into the zip file and copy the Engine.ini file
3. Go to this location in your file explorer %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\Config\Windows
4. Paste the Engine.ini you copied from your zip file into this folder (make sure to replace the current Engine.ini file)
5. Right click on the newly pasted Engine.ini file and hit Properties. Make sure that "Read-Only" is toggled on. Hit Apply, then OK. This is an important step. You don't want the game to write over this file
IMPORTANT NOTES
- If this mod straight up doesn't work for you just delete the Engine.ini file from that folder location and start the game up again. It will generate a new Engine.ini file on startup
- Probably a good idea to be Running the .exe file as Administrator
- In-game FSR options will not be available
If you're shrewd enough, you will recognize that all I've done is developed and dropped a block of code into the existing Engine.ini file. If you know what you're doing and just want to copy and paste this block of code into your Engine.ini file, here it is:
r. FidelityFX. FSR. Enabled=0
r. FidelityFX. CAS=0
r. FidelityFX. CAS. Enabled=0
r. AMD. FSR. Supported=0
