Simple plug-and-play upgrade to the Oblivion Remastered Ignite Animation Launch Video with 8K resolution and pristine quality. Designed to work with my 8K Main Menu loop replacer. Pairs well with this 8K Intro cutscene replacer.
For Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, Virtuos went above and beyond by recreating many game assets from scratch, including a brand new launch video. While the Ignite animation itself is worthy of the RPG masterpiece game, Virtuos delivered the final render heavily compressed.
This results in visible compression artifacts, crushed details in lower-lit areas and noise.
I was not satisfied with the end product delivered by Virtuos. This led me to create this mod. Over the course of editing the intro movie, around 30 Gigabytes of image data was generated in 8K resolution with 12 hours of raw rendering time on an RTX 4090 powered PC.
This mod achieves unprecedented quality by employing AI Multi-Frame Detail Reconstruction ("MFDR"), a novel workflow based on Generative AI. The workflow uses four neural rendering passes.
AI MFDR is more than an upscale - it derives entirely new details from missing input, eliminates compression artifacts and reduces noise. Importantly, the added new detail is temporally stable. Flickering or changing elements that can occur with Stable Diffusion are minimized. At the same time, the video quality is upped to Ultra-Wide 8K resolution.
The final render was exported in the extremly efficient AV1 codec with an ultra-high bitrate before finally encoding to the Bink 2 (.bk2) game target format. I ensured getting the most out of this format that is currently technically possible, with Bink 2 peak data rate exceeding 400 Mbit/s (= 51 MB/s).
The result is not perfect, but I am convinced it is the best outcome that can be achieved within feasable hardware and rendering time requirements. See for yourself with a Before/After comparison:
In this instance, AI MFDR restores fine structural detail to the silver sword ornaments and the heavy armor of the Hero of Kvatch.
Installation is as simple as it gets:

Incompatible with other replacers of the Oblivion Main Menu loop for obvious reasons.
Note: I originally made this mod for myself and decided to share this with the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered modding community. Please consider endorsing my mod and spreading the word, so that many other players can enjoy the OBR start-up animation a
