📋 About This Mod
Water Reflection Blur 0. 3 (BETA) Applies a blurring effect to distant water to hide the nasty jaggies. Requires OBMM to install the new shader. WARNING This is not a final version; there are known bugs. Known Issues: Prevents the water ripples around your character from working. Installing this OMOD and then installing an Oblivion official patch will break your shaders and you will have to re-install. Please un-apply the mod, patch Oblivion, then re-apply. If you need to get in touch with me regarding this mod, you can PM me on TES forums. Feel free to use this mod as you see fit, obviously within the the normal rules regarding mods - i.e. no charging for it. Credits: Bethesda for the original water shader, of which this is a tweaked version.
A lightweight visual mod that applies a blurring effect to distant water in Oblivion, hiding the jagged edges that plague the game's water rendering. With 455 endorsements and nearly 20,000 downloads, it's a simple, well-received fix for a common visual annoyance.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 455 endorsements and nearly 20k downloads
- Does exactly what it says: cleans up ugly water edges without performance hit
- Lightweight and to the point—no bloat, just a visual fix
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2009—may not be compatible with newer Oblivion versions or mods
- Only affects distant water; close-up water jaggies remain untouched
For Oblivion players who notice the shimmering, jagged edges on distant water and want a quick, no-fuss fix. If you're a purist who prefers vanilla visuals or you're running a heavily modded setup with water overhauls, this might conflict or be unnecessary.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's an old mod, manually drop the files into your Data folder and ensure it's activated in your load order—no OBSE or script extender needed.
- If you use a mod manager like Wrye Bash or OBMM, install it through that to keep your load order clean and avoid conflicts.
- Test it near a lake or ocean in-game to see the effect; if you notice any weirdness, try adjusting your water quality settings in the launcher.
