Optimized Septim Gold Coin Texture

If you want to brighten up the appearance of the in-game coins over vanilla, to have a gold appearance, but you're not particularly interested in adding to your computer's workload, this mod might be right for you.

There are plenty of high-resolution coin replacers for close-up screen archery.  This is not one of those mods.  If you're looking for sweet-looking high-res coin retextures, there are a bunch of nice-looking ones on Nexus.  A few examples:

  This mod is not designed to boost the resolution of the coins.  This mod is designed to simply brighten the coins' appearance as compared to vanilla while reducing (or at least not increasing) your processing load.  This mod doesn't affect the coin mesh, only the textures and the normal maps.

  NOTE: While both versions are brighter than vanilla coins--which have a bronze look--Version 1. 1 has a shinier "gold" appearance than Version 1. 0, which looks a bit more like brass.

  INSTALLATION:

  To install manually, just extract the two image files into your game's data folder, just like you do with any other texture mod.

  To uninstall, just remove the two image files from your game's data folder.

  This is merely a texture mod that improves the appearance of coins.  It has no effect whatsoever on gameplay.  It has no scripts, .esm or .esp.  It doesn't end up in your game save files.  It can be installed or uninstalled mid-playthrough with no problem.

  COMPATIBILITY:

  This mod will conflict with any mod that replaces the default coin texture and / or normal map, but such a conflict will not cause any problems in gameplay.  If another mod replacing the textures is later in your load order than this mod, that mod's textures will end up in your game.  If this mod is later in your load order than another mod replacing those textures, this mod's textures will end up in your game.  It's that simple.

  TROUBLESHOOTING:

  If you're still seeing vanilla coins after installation, the most likely culprit relates to archive invalidation.  Essentially, the game engine is programmed to use the latest texture it finds in the game directory, but the code doesn't always work properly.  This is a common and well-known problem with Oblivion and there's plenty of information online about how to solve it.
