📋 About This Mod
I, like most, find third-person in Oblivion very lackluster. I wanted something like Skyrim, which handles it extremely well. So I managed to find WalkBlessed, which allows for offsetting the third-person camera and creating that nice over-the-shoulder feel, while not eliminating the first-person camera entirely. But then I wanted a crosshair, so I found 3rd-Person Crosshair Alternative. But that crosshair was designed for vanilla, and stayed in the center of the screen, hopelessly inaccurate. So, I made this mod. Using the power of MenuQue, I managed to make a second cursor in the main HUD, which I could then move around (don't ask me why the reticle menu was so intractable). Then I (well, you, actually--see the ReadMe for details on this) got the regular cursor to not show the reticle, just everything else. This way, all the right variables get passed to it, enemy health gets smaller and so on, but you don't end up with two cursors. Sure, some things look a little weird, but overall it works.
REQUIREMENTS
WalkBlessed
Third Person Crosshair Alternative
INSTALLATION
See the ReadMe for this. In essence, you have to do a little legwork here: WalkBlessed is a fancy DLL mod, so I don't know how to access its variables other than you copying the values to my ini; and 3PCA has restrictive permissions, but its author hasn't had any Nexus activity since 2014, so instead of waiting forever for them to (not) read my message, I just tried to minimize how much stuff from there I used--you still have to download their mod, I just have modified copies of the crosshairs here as well because they have to be in a different folder.
Thanks to krytonix for making 3rd Person Crosshair Alternative, and to Cerasine for making the original 3rd-person crosshairs upon which that mod was based, and which seem to have been lost to time.
Thanks to c0jzZ for making WalkBlessed, without which this mod would be completely possible, but utterly pointless.
Thanks to the creators of OBSE, xOBSE, and MenuQue, for providing tools to create all sorts of amazing things.
This small UI mod adjusts the crosshair from 3rd-Person Crosshair Alternative to align with WalkBlessed's camera offset. It's a niche compatibility patch for players using both mods, with 127 endorsements and last updated in November 2021.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Solves a real annoyance for WalkBlessed players—no more misaligned crosshair.
- Tiny mod that does exactly what it says, no bloat.
- Community-tested with 127 endorsements and over 2,600 downloads.
⚠️ Cons
- Requires both 3rd-Person Crosshair Alternative and WalkBlessed to be useful.
- Last updated in 2021—might not work with newer game versions or mod updates.
- No detailed instructions or screenshots in the description, so setup might be trial-and-error.
For players who use WalkBlessed and want an accurate crosshair in third-person view. Skip if you don't use both mods or play in first-person.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have both required mods installed and load this patch after them in your mod manager.
- Test the crosshair alignment in third-person view while walking; if it's still off, check that WalkBlessed's camera settings are default.
- Since the mod is from 2021, verify compatibility with your current game version before installing.
