MY TOWN

Allows you to build and manage a town in the Nibenay Valley area, or you could just build houses for yourself and your companions if that is all you want. (But the top floor of the town hall is also a player home and both containers there are secure storage.) If you build things people want and make it a desirable town then people will visit the town, and may buy property there. Town members will also pay you taxes and the town may become quite profitable over time.

Note this modification will conflict with PORTINGTON, which is almost the exact same town in the same location. Check that out if you want to inspect the entire completed town before you start building, but do not have both modifications installed at the same time.

Talk to Milton, who should be wandering around the area or in his farmhouse, and you can invest in the farm and town. Milton will run the farm and stables and it will be your job to run the rest of the town. First you should go into the town hall and hire one of the four administrators. The other three may buy a house or mansion in town later. Inspect the chest under the administrator's desk for town information, job vacancies and unsold property deeds. You should not interfere with the contents of this chest except to remove the deeds for any properties you don't want to be sold and any job vacancies you don't want to be filled yet.

Shacks (4 total) cost 5000, sale price 3000.

Houses (3 total) cost 15000, sale price 12000.

Mansions (2 total) cost 23000, sale price 20000.

General Store: cost 10000, sale price 7000.

Tavern: cost 17000, sale price 15000.

Blacksmith: cost 17000, sale price 15000.

The chapel costs 12000 to build, and nobody will buy it. However it will attract a lot of visitors to the town, will add a large amount of esteem to the town, attracting richer settlers and business owners, and may cause a priest to move into the town. Since the priest is paid by donation the size of the property he buys will depend upon the size of his local congregation.

Guards have a guard house to live in and are paid weekly. If you have a local blacksmith in the town then the cost of arming the guards each week will be lowered. You can have a total of three guards: A day guard and night guard will wander around the town, while a forester will hunt and guard in the woods. Being more visible to the public, the town guards add more esteem to the town than the forester, but the forester also brings in extra food and can follow you as a personal guard - or you can lead them to some deer and go hunting together.

Having enough guards will prevent BANDITS from robbing the town, but if a large amount of food is stored in town they may be unable to resist trying to steal some of it.
