📋 About This Mod

Overview:

This is my spin on allowing you to join the Blackwood Company as a fully joinable guild. This mod upgrades the Blackwood Company into a joinable faction and a questline with over a dozen new quests that pits you against the Fighters Guild as well as taking a variety of morally questionable contracts.

The Fighters Guild and the Blackwood Company are mutually exclusive. You cannot complete both questlines. Joining one means you can't join the other, but there are ways to get kicked out of one and join the other, but doing so will reduce the content of whichever guild you join second (as in, certain quests will be replaced with far less interesting alternatives, others will be skipped either partially or entirely). However, both questlines have a "point of no return", meaning, if you get too far along one questline, you can't join the other guild. For my new Blackwood Company questline, that's basically just the first quest (it is possible to fail the first quest, but you have to try to fail it), but for the Fighters Guild, you can technically still join the Blackwood Company up until you start "Trolls of Forsaken Mine". Also note that, whilst you will be locked out of using Fighters Guild services such as Training, the Blackwood Company will have equivalent Trainers to make up for it.

The timeline of events surrounding the Fighters Guild questline is slightly different in my version of events:

  • []The Azani Blackheart deal hasn't happened yet (it happens as soon as you join the Fighters Guild, off-camera, or it happens shortly after you join the Blackwood Company) because I wanted to show it happening during the Blackwood Company questline.[/]
    • []Also, the Blackwood Company's "Water's Edge" contract, which happens towards the end of the Fighters Guild questline, now instead happens at the start of the Blackwood Company's questline, because I thought it worked well as an intro to the Blackwood Company and wanted to re-use it. This does means if you join the Blackwood Company, then join the Fighters Guild, the Water's Edge massacre has already happened, so you'll be looking at an aftermath of something that took place potentially days or weeks beforehand, rather than the intended effect the Fighters Guild questline was going for (i.e. that it had only just happened).[/]

I'll also note that, whilst I didn't download this other mod that allows you to join the Blackwood Company because I didn't want to be too influenced by it, I will admit that one of my quests is inspired by the user-submitted screenshot included in that other mod.

I'll also point out that, funnily enough, during the same quest as in the previous paragraph, you are required to drop meat near a door, but because there's no way using the vanilla scripting to detect that you'd dropped something (OBSE
