📋 About This Mod
One thing that I\\\'ve always liked about Morrowind and Skyrim is the musical instruments that one can find as clutter, even though they\\\'re not actually usable. They add a nice little bit of ambiance to the world, and add immensely to bard RP characters. And then there\\\'s Oblivion, which apparently takes place in the town from Footloose. So, using Stroti\\\'s excellent musical instrument models, I set out to remedy this. With this mod, you will now find hand-placed and random clutter versions of the following: 1) Lute 2) Lyre 3) Vihuela as well as a static model of a pipe organ in each of the chapel living quarters. The instruments have also been added to selected NPCs- no spoilers, but for a general guide, consider who in-game would be likely to carry such an instrument. For collectors, I have also included an easter egg for you to discover- a rare ebony Fat Loot, which has made its way to Cyrodiil all the way from Vvardenfell. All of the models feature brand new textures from yours truly, so the instruments are now made of a rich, dark wood with gold, ebony, or silver trim. This mod does edit the vanilla loot lists, so if you\\\'re using a mod like Fran\\\'s, OOO, or TIE, you will need to make sure to merge your leveled lists in Wrye Bash. Full credit and thanks goes to Stroti for all models used in this mod. Please seek permission before using any resources in this mod, including the retextured models.
A compact lore-friendly mod that adds non-playable musical instruments to Cyrodiil's world, NPCs, and loot lists. With 154 endorsements and over 2,000 downloads, it's a niche addition for players seeking ambient flavor. Last updated in 2013, so compatibility with current Oblivion versions is unverified.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 154 endorsements and over 2,000 downloads.
- Lore-friendly additions that enhance world immersion without breaking the setting.
- Lightweight and simple—no complex scripts or dependencies.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2013—may have compatibility issues with newer Oblivion patches or mods.
- Instruments are non-playable, so you can't actually use them—just look at them.
For Oblivion players who want to add subtle, lore-friendly flavor to the world—seeing instruments on NPCs and in loot adds a touch of life. Skip if you're looking for playable instruments or major gameplay changes; this is purely cosmetic.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's a simple mod, just drop the files into your Data folder and enable the .esp in the launcher.
- If you use a mod manager like OBMM or Wrye Bash, you can install it that way for easier management.
- Check for conflicts with other mods that alter NPC inventories or loot lists—load order might matter.
