📋 About This Mod
== Introduction == A long time coming: the new, updated version of Francesco\'s Creatures and Items Mod. This is very much a beta, however I\'ve played it for many hours and it seems completely stable. NOTE: If at the end of the BAIN installer, the \"Finish\" button is greyed out and the checkboxes are not visible, you need to expand the installer window (make it bigger) for the checkboxes to show (thanks CorePC). == Installation and Requirements == Completely compatible with FCOM, in fact there\'s an FCOM install option right from within the BAIN installer. Same with MMM. Requires OBSE! You MUST uninstall the old version of frans before installing this new one. EXE installer has been dropped in favour of a BAIN installer. Don\'t try to OMOD this, or BadThings will happen. == Changelog == (Beta 1)
- []EXE installer removed, BAIN wizard added. []Easy install route for FCOM and MMM users. []MOBS stats updated to 2. 0. []Ingame menu removed, INI file added. []Outdated options removed, newer alternatives are suggested in the wizard. []Files cleaned.
Francescos Creatures and Items - V5 overhauls Oblivion's level scaling so creatures and enemies no longer level up with the player, preventing bandits from wielding Daedric gear at high levels. It aims to keep the game challenging while making the world feel more static and believable. A classic mod with 3,889 endorsements, last updated in 2012.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community favorite with 3,889 endorsements and 173k downloads — clearly a well-loved overhaul.
- Fixes a common complaint about Oblivion's leveling system: bandits in god-like gear at high levels.
- Makes the world feel more static and believable, rewarding exploration and preparation.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2012 — may have compatibility issues with modern mod setups or the Steam version.
- Overhauling level scaling can break quests or encounters designed around the vanilla system.
For Oblivion players who are tired of the rubber-band leveling and want a more grounded, challenging world. Perfect for veterans who know the game's systems and want a fresh experience. Skip if you prefer the vanilla scaling or want a more modern, actively maintained overhaul.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since this mod changes level scaling, consider starting a new playthrough to avoid mid-game balance weirdness.
- Check the mod's comments section on Nexus for user-reported compatibility patches with other overhauls.
- If you use a mod manager, install manually by dropping the files into your Data folder to ensure proper overwrite order.
