📋 About This Mod
Restores and enhances disease-related dialogue.
OVERVIEW
Bethesda recorded dialogue for NPCs to say to other diseased actors (generally limited to the player and beggars). For example, guards have five responses to say to beggars that greet them, but they never play because the beggars' greetings do not link to them. Additionally, there are four generic disease-related lines to which most NPCs have access. However, the function Bethesda used to filter them, GetDisease, does not work, which means that these four lines never play. migck worked around this in Dialogue Tweaks Fixes and Restorations by using a scripted implementation. However, xOBSE 22. 6 fixed the GetDisease function, so scripted implementations are no longer necessary. Even so, there are still some adjustments that must be made for these lines to properly play, which is where this mod comes in.
It primarily does three things: first, it reorders the generic disease-related lines to work around some quirks. Second, it raises the priority of the disease-related lines to prevent them from being overriden by others. Lastly, it properly integrates them into Oblivion's conversation system by adding more linked topics to them (most of them had none at all). For example, beggar greetings are now linked to other greetings so that NPCs can respond to them appropriately instead of walking away.
THINGS TO NOTE
The chance of NPCs saying disease-related lines to the player is 10%. If you experience NPCs saying such lines to you even though you seemingly do not have any diseases, you may have fought a creature that gave you a disease while god mode (tgm) was active. God mode appears to prevent the disease from affecting you or showing up in your list of active effects, but NPCs will still think you are sick. Praying at an altar or using a Cure Disease potion or spell should fix it. Restarting the game may also fix it. This issue is not directly related to the mod (it is an engine-level thing), and it is obviously a rare occurrence as most people do not use god mode. I may be wrong about some things here, so take this information with a grain of salt. However, what I have described so far has at least been my experience.
COMPATIBILITY
The mod is highly compatible. It should also be compatible with Dialogue Tweaks Fixes and Restorations if you load the former last.
There is a patch available for Star's Extended Dialogue. Load the main plugin after it, followed by the patch. Please note that this patch was made for version 1. 0 of that mod. I am unsure how well it works with version 1. 1.
