📋 About This Mod
Description
Simply makes vanilla grasses denser by tweaking GRAS records. Gives grass a more lush appearance by reducing patchiness.
-
[]Increased density for grasses to 120. While it didn't seem to do much, it also didn't seem to harm anything, so I left it at this.
[
]Changed position ranges for grass to 32 where it was set higher. This is the effective "maximum density" of a grass type.[]Zero wild edits, ITMs, UDRs. I didn't edit ANYTHING that wasn't a GRAS record for the sake of compatibility.
There are plenty of retextures for grass out there. I also see lots of people suggesting edits to the iMinGrassSize value (which compliments my mod too btw). However, that value isn't the be all end all of grass density, as each grass type has their record store a sort of max density stored within their GRAS records. This mod will make that maximum much tighter for most grasses.
* I intentionally didn't touch water grasses. It's probably not even necessary.
Compatibility
This is very lite. If you don't use another grass mod, or if your preferred grass mod is pluginless, you're not going to have any issues.
Incompatible with grass mods that edit vanilla GRAS records. Won't crash, but you'd want to load them under my plugin so they take priority.
Semi-compatible with mods that add new GRAS records. They just won't be covered.
Works with any grass retexture. So if your grass mod has no plugin, like Daydream - Grass Texture Atlas, it'll be fine.
Compatible with anything else.
Recommended
Any pluginless grass retexture or remesh mods will pair fine. Daydream is in all my screenshots.
If you'd like more colorful vegetation in your grass, then try out Let There Be Flowers. Load it's plugin under mine. I used it in my screenshots too.
If you don't mind a little INI editing, under the section, lower iMinGrassSize to around 40. It's also in my screenshots.
A lightweight plugin that increases the density and lushness of vanilla grasses in Fallout 4. It is not an INI edit, making it a simple drop-in solution for players who want thicker ground cover without performance-heavy overhauls. With 103 endorsements and 3,939 downloads, it has a modest but active user base.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Lightweight plugin means minimal performance impact
- Simple drop-in install, no INI fiddling required
- Community-tested with 103 endorsements and nearly 4k downloads
⚠️ Cons
- Only affects vanilla grasses, not custom grass mods
- Last updated in 2022, may not be compatible with the latest game patches
- No screenshots or detailed description, so you're flying blind on the visual result
For Fallout 4 players who want denser vanilla grass without the hassle of INI edits or heavy overhauls. If you're using a grass mod already, this won't touch it. Skip if you need visual previews or want more control over density settings.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Place the plugin in your Data folder and enable it in your mod manager or launcher.
- If you're using a grass overhaul, load this mod before it to avoid conflicts.
- Test in a grassy area like Sanctuary to see the density change immediately.
