DESCRIPTION:

- IMPORTANT: Use only with a new game!

- Yet another mod to delay the start of the DLCs. I figure more choices are better.

- This one starts the DLC quests based on conditions you can configure in an INI file. If any value is out of the acceptable range, you get a warning so you can fix it before continuing.

- Be sure to back up your INI file or document your preferences in case you reinstall this mod.

- The way you choose to play your character matters.

- Map markers are not added to the map until the DLC starts. Fast travel is disabled until you discover the location.

- For the three skill-based settings (sum of fighter, magic, and stealth skills), there is no maximum value in case you use a mod that increases their maximum from 100.

- The processing starts once you are in an exterior location.

How each DLC is started (default values shown):

1) Shivering Isles

1. 1) Player level >= 20

1. 2) Player is in the Bravil worldspace (can choose to ignore location check)

1. 3) Also starts if the player finds the Strange Door on their own.

(If the location check is skipped, it starts in one day once the other conditions are met.)

2) Knights of the Nine

2. 1) Player level >= 15

2. 2) Player's (Fame - Infamy) >= 15

2. 3) Player is not in the vicinity of Anvil and not in prison (can choose to skip this).

3) Battlehorn Castle (Fighters Stronghold)

3. 1) Player's Fighters Guild rank >= 3 (Swordsman)

3. 2) Sum of player's seven combat skills >= 200

3. 3) Player is in the Chorrol worldspace (can choose to ignore location check)

3. 4) Also starts if the player finds castle and attackers.

4) Frostcrag Spire (Wizard's Tower)

4. 1) Player's Mages Guild rank >= 3 (Evoker)

4. 2) Sum of player's seven magic skills >= 200

4. 3) Player is in the Bruma worldspace (can choose to ignore location check)

5) Thieves Den (Black Flag Ship)

5. 1) Player's Thieves Guild rank >= 3 (Prowler)

5. 2) Sum of player's seven stealth skills >= 20

Delay DLC Start is a configurable mod that postpones DLC quests in Starfield until player-defined conditions are met. It uses an ini file for settings, offering flexibility for players who want to control when DLC content begins. With 146 endorsements and recent updates, it's a niche but active tool for quest pacing.

✨ Key Features

Configurable conditions in an ini file determine when each DLC quest starts.
Delays DLC quests from starting automatically.
Allows players to set specific triggers for each DLC individually.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Gives you full control over when DLC quests kick in—no more getting dragged into content you're not ready for.
  • Configurable via ini means you can tailor it to your playthrough style, whether you want to delay everything or just specific quests.
  • Active mod with 146 endorsements and recent updates, so it's likely still being maintained.

⚠️ Cons

  • Requires manual ini editing, which might be intimidating if you're not comfortable with config files.
  • No detailed documentation provided, so you'll have to figure out the exact ini syntax on your own.
  • Only delays DLC starts—doesn't add new content or alter quest progression beyond the delay.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Starfield players who want to pace their DLC content, especially those who prefer to explore the base game fully before jumping into expansions. Also great for role-players who want to trigger DLC at story-appropriate moments. Skip if you're fine with DLCs starting automatically or if you want more than just delay functionality.
📦 Install:Medium· 5-10 minutes

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Make sure to edit the ini file with a text editor like Notepad++ and save it as UTF-8 to avoid encoding issues.
  • Test the mod on a new save or right after starting a DLC quest to see if the conditions work as expected.
  • If you're using a mod manager, check if it supports ini tweaks—some managers can help you edit the file without manual navigation.
