📋 About This Mod

The chapels of the Nine need to be maintained somehow; why not by the generous patronage of their parishioners? Every time you pray for healing and restoration at an Altar of the Nine, you are obliged to make a monetary contribution proportional to your wealth. The poor donate nothing, but the rich donate a small fraction of their holdings to maintain the chapel and its priests. This mod will add a small cost to the otherwise free disease-curing, attribute-restoring, health-replenishing powers of an Altar of the Nine. Don\'t be a cheapskate; pay up. The amount deducted when you pray at an Altar of the Nine is 1% of your total gold. -- Exists in two versions: a non-OBSE version, and an OBSE version that allows you to tweak the amount of gold in an .ini file. You can also set the tithe to a flat amount in the .ini file.

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

Chapel Tithe is a small gameplay mod for Oblivion that automatically deducts 1% of the player's gold whenever they pray at an altar of the Nine. It adds a simple economic consequence to a common action, appealing to players seeking a bit more realism or challenge in their faith-based activities. With 97 endorsements and over 2,000 downloads, it has a modest but dedicated following, though it hasn't been updated since 2008.

✨ Key Features

Deducts 1% of the player's gold when praying at any altar of the Nine.
Adds a small economic penalty to religious activities.
Lightweight and simple mod with no additional dependencies.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Simple and effective – does exactly what it says without bloat.
  • Adds a nice layer of roleplay for characters who worship the Nine.
  • Community-tested with 97 endorsements and over 2,000 downloads.

⚠️ Cons

  • Last updated in 2008 – may have compatibility issues with newer Oblivion versions or mods.
  • Only affects altars of the Nine, so it's useless if you don't use them.
  • No documentation or support provided by the author.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Oblivion players who enjoy immersive roleplay and want a small economic consequence for religious actions. If you're a completionist or someone who prays at every altar, this adds a tiny bit of challenge. Skip if you want a major gameplay overhaul – this is a minor tweak.
