- Auto Update Leveled Items And Spells (AULIAS)
- Version: 1. 2. 5
- By: Alek
- Requires: OBSE v0020
- ---------------------------------------------------------------------
- Introduction
- -----------
- After few playthroughs I started delaying some quests in order to get better rewards. Along with early endurance maxing and +5/+5/+5 leveling, which I find myself forcing not to do, it was a chore to look which quests to do and which to leave for when my character reach level 20 or 30. Leveled lists are good thing for random chest loot where you can replay dungeons later in the game but quest rewards are given to a player once and you have to play with weak version of the item if you didn\'t delay the quests. I also got annoyed when playing through Mehrunes Razor DLC just to find out that Morag Tong armor is all mixed with low level variants, some people even did constant load->levelup method until they get desired level of items. I made AULIAS so I can enjoy this game from beginning without the need to worry about what quests to skip for later.
- Description
- ----------
- This mod will scan player inventory on regular basis for any occurrence of items, spells or unused sigil stones that are contained in internal list. You can see the full contents of that list later in the text. Level of these items will be compared to player\'s current level and changes will be made when better version of the item is available. This is done by querying leveled lists directly and none of the item references are hard-coded, which made it easy to add new things to the list in the future. This is meant only for unique quest rewarded items so don\'t expect to have random dungeon loot replaced.
- Not only vanilla items are supported but also those from:
- Shivering Isles
- Knights of the Nine DLC
- Mehrunes Razor DLC
- Vile Lair DLC
- Fighter\'s Stronghold DLC
- You don\'t need any plug-ins for these, AULIAS will detect which of these you have installed and will update the internal list accordingly.
- AULIAS is 100% spam free and you can configure few settings along the way in supplied \'ini\' file.
- AULIAS vs. Quest Award Leveling
- -----------------------------
- Before I started working on AULIAS I went looking if such mod exists. Surprisingly I found one called \"Quest Award Leveling\". Even though these two mods share the same idea, it just ends there. Nothing from QAL has been taken and used in AULIAS, it is solely my own interpretation and it\'s made from scratch.
- I didn\'t like how QAL handle item swapping and just by peeking at its code I foreseen dozens of possible problems. I understand the limitations of default non-OBSE scripting so it\'s not to blame the authors.
- Some of the problems with QAL:
- Message spam when removing/adding items (this is due to the nature of non-OBSE functions).
- No item level selection (if you have level 1 item and it need to be replaced with level 30 vers
This mod automatically upgrades leveled items and spells obtained as quest rewards, as well as unused sigil stones, as the player gains levels. It ensures that rewards remain relevant throughout the game, eliminating the need to manually seek out better versions. Ideal for players who want a more streamlined progression without constant gear swapping.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge community trust with 4,464 endorsements and 187k downloads.
- Solves a common annoyance—no more outclassed quest rewards.
- Simple, hands-off quality-of-life improvement.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2011—may have compatibility issues with newer game versions or mods.
- Only affects quest rewards and sigil stones, not random loot or merchant items.
- No detailed documentation on how the upgrade logic works or potential conflicts.
For Oblivion players who hate getting a cool quest reward only to outgrow it ten levels later. If you want a smoother progression without micromanaging gear, this is for you. Skip if you prefer the challenge of seeking out better equipment yourself.
