📋 About This Mod
9 options to replace the Steel melee weapons with somewhat more practical designs.
Updated to 1. 2 by PoshAJ (Primary models only, no optionals yet)
Donations are welcome but -only- from those in a comfortable position to do so.
Replacers - no standalone versions planned.
Vaguely based on historical designs.
Each weapon has its own folder, so if you don't like one you can just delete its corresponding folder.
Uses only vanilla assets so this should be compatible with any retextures.
Claymore:
Fun fact: This is the first model I ever edited for this game. As such it is a bit less refined, the blade is a smidge too wide, and the guard is a tad out of proportions, and the pommel is questionably sized. But I love it. Included a narrow-bladed option for those who want something more nimble-looking.
Shortsword:
Did I steal 90% the design aspects for this one from Dark Souls? No! (Yes.) This one is my favourite.
Dagger:
Very stabby. Very pointy. Very sneaky.
War Axe:
This one came out surprisingly well! Had to get crafty with some of the adjustments given how limited the model is, so it's a bit jank but the overall silhouette is spot on for what I was aiming for.
Warhammer:
Basic adjustments. Smaller hammer head, longer overall, added spikes. I'm not completely happy with this one but its functional.
Mace:
Basic adjustments. Main thing is that I sunk the spikes into the mace head to make it feel a bit more wieldy. It's still oversized, but less.
Battle Axe:
Tiny halberd. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Longsword:
This was a tough one. I didn't want to just do another spadona. The original design has a guard with -two- primary design elements. The central, bulkier bit, and the very small, brighter quillons. The issue is that neither really hit the vibe I was looking for. The quillons were too small, and the cental bit felt too unique and intricate to be a generic, mass-produced steel sword that you'd see everywhere. In the end I opted to chop off the smaller quillons and extend the central bit. It still feels too unique for my immersion, almost too "knightly" or "paladiny", but it's the best I could do with the limited assets for now. It's more practical, but doesn't fit the tone of the mod, in my opinion. May revisit this one.
Note:
At the time of posting, editing weapon models causes the visual effect of enchantments (the glow) to render differently. I hardly notice this personally, but to each their own.
