MC-260 Catalina II

MC-260 Catalina II is an upgrade package for the base version of the MC-260 Chimera. This upgrade package focuses mainly on transforming the Chimera into a long-range patrol bomber/SaR aircraft/gunship, while retaining the original cargo-carrying and AEW&C capabilities. The MC-260 Catalina II is currently fielded by both the PALA and the BDF. Its capabilities were showcased during the attack on PALAN carrier Invicta when the upgraded aircraft destroyed the patrol boats that were being used by the insurgents and rescued the stranded 4 airmen that were shot down by the insurgents. Quoting Petty Officer Locke who was present during the operation: “I originally had my doubts about the whole upgrade package. I thought that this whole thing would be a massive fiasco and I would have to phone my Ma' with the words, 'Look, I really F* up,' but when we arrived onto the scene and I opened up on those insurgents, I realised I was wrong. With the armaments on the Catalina II, the mission was rather easy. I just aimed the 127-mil on those small boats and watched them disappear in seconds. The sound those (the dual 127mm railguns) make is something else. Landing on water wasn't that easy, but it never is. I never forget the faces of those four lads after I helped them climb in. They looked so F*** happy. So, yeah, I think that we should get more of these upgrade packages."
