📋 About This Mod
This mod is intended as a spiritual successor to Window Ambient Light at Night created by GRUmod. (Old mod is no longer needed!)
It adds well over a thousand hand placed windows across the entire Mojave that light up at night.
This creates the impression of people actually living there instead of buildings being dormant at night!
Mesh fixes from NVMIM and MAC-10 have been forwarded.
Highly compatible (and recommended) with NVR. All screenshots were taken with NVR and the Hikikomori preset.
This mod has built-in support for Real Time Reflections.
Window Ambient Light at Night Expanded should overwrite any potential conflicts for its intended effect!
Load order does not matter, just load the mod after mods like YUP/NOPE and Unofficial Patch Plus.
Plugin has been cleaned and all meshes have been SNIFFed.
This mod uses the textures included in Forgotten Windows with kind permission of NuttyComic.
Dragbody also kindly allowed me to use some of their textures.
As a rule I've only added lighting to windows of buildings that the player can actually enter AND make sense to have lit up windows at night. (Mostly NPC homes.) "Interior" worldspaces like Westside and Aerotech will also have lit up windows in the Wasteland when buildings are visible outside their interior cell.
The following locations are included in this mod:
Boulder City
Crimson Caravan
Cottonwood Cove
El Dorado Substation
El Rey Motel
East Vegas (Sharecroppers, Orion Moreno, Isaac, Hostetlers)
Freeside (Atomic Wrangler, Kings School of Impersonation & Silver Rush)
Gibson Scrap Yard
Goodsprings
Gun Runners
Legion Safehouse
North Vegas Square
New Vegas Steel
Pump Stations (East & West)
Red Rock Canyon
REPCONN Headquarters & Test Site
The Strip (Las Vegas Boulevard Station, NCR Embassy, The Tops, Vault 21)
Whitaker Farmstead
Old World Blues
Securitron Deconstruction Plant
Z-43 Innovative Toxins Plant

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge visual impact for a small file size (274 endorsements, 119k downloads)
- Hand-placed windows mean no random or unnatural placements
- Makes the Mojave feel alive at night without changing gameplay
⚠️ Cons
- Only affects windows—no other light sources or building changes
- May conflict with other mods that alter building meshes or lighting
- No compatibility notes provided by the author
For Fallout: New Vegas players who want a more lived-in wasteland at night. If you're tired of dark, empty buildings and want a simple visual upgrade, this is for you. Skip if you prefer gameplay over atmosphere or use heavy lighting overhauls that might conflict.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Install with a mod manager like Vortex or Mod Organizer 2 to keep track of overwrites.
- Load order matters less for this mod, but place it after any lighting or texture overhauls to ensure its windows show up.
- Check the mod's screenshots to see if the effect matches your taste before installing.
