📋 About This Mod
DESCRIPTION
This is a simple little mod that fixes what I think is the biggest roleplaying shortfall in Fallout 3 - namely that after rescuing Dad from Vault 112, he chews you out for leaving the safety of the vault to come looking for him, and there's no option to ask him, "Well, WTF was I supposed to do?! The Overseer murdered Jonas and was trying to kill me!" The available choices either make you sound like a clingy loser ("You never said goodbye!") or a wannabe edgelord ("Screw the vault!"). There is no opportunity to present a reasoned, practical argument like the child of a scientist ought to be able to do.
With this mod, two new dialogue options are added to the end of the Tranquility Lane quest, giving you two opportunities to tell Dad about the situation in Vault 101 after his departure, and he will apologize for his shortsightedness. The responses are fully voiced using clips from Dad's other dialogue.
SOUND FILES
It just occurred to me that I'm not sure if I'm allowed to share Fallout 3 voice files on the New Vegas Nexus, even though I cut them together differently. Instead of risking a ban, I've deleted the original upload and replaced it with a file that only contains the plugin and the correct folder for the sounds to go in. You will have to download the Fallout 3 version of this mod here (http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/23753), and extract the sound files from that archive into the folder added by this mod (Data\sound\voice\TTW Tell Dad About Jonas.esp\MaleUniqueDad).
INSTALLATION
Extract all the files in the archive to your New Vegas data folder (which is the same folder where FalloutNV.esm is located). Download the voice files from http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/23753 and extract them into the folder added by this mod (Data\sound\voice\TTW Tell Dad About Jonas.esp\MaleUniqueDad), then enable the ESP either in your mod manager of choice, or under "Data Files" in the launcher that runs when you start up New Vegas.
This mod adds a fourth dialogue option to the Tranquility Lane quest in Fallout 3, allowing you to tell Dad that the Overseer murdered Jonas and tried to kill you, which is why you left the Vault. It's a small narrative addition for players who want more role-playing options.
