📋 About This Mod
Description
There have been many mods attempting to bring the Tribal Power Helmet from a Fallout 2 loading screen to life in the newer games, but they all suffered from various drawbacks. The original had a fairly low resolution texture and a mesh that caused a bunch of errors when opened in NifSkope in addition to being unsmoothed. BioClone made a great retexture for that mod, but it needed to be downloaded separately, and relied on the New Vegas implementation which simply dropped the helm in Goodsprings, kinda like a preorder pack. That was not gonna do. It was too good of an idea to be held back by some implementation issues.
So I contacted BioClone with my plans, seeing as the original mesh was free-to-use as long as proper credit was given, and got his permission. From there I fixed the mesh, changing its shape a bit and adding proper smoothing, edited some seam issues in the new texture, created a new icon from Captain-Ultima's new T-51b icons, and made a more fitting implementation that makes sense from a lore-viewpoint.
The new helmet was last seen with a party of Vipers that has been spotted around Searchlight area. Rumour has it the Vipers have been raiding that area extensively, but they were caught off-guard by the recent incursion of Legion troopers in the area and what happened to Searchlight itself. Needing time to determine their next move, they fled down into an abandoned cavern nearby. Read the following for a location spoiler:
Features
-
[]The Tribal T-51b Helmet featured in a Fallout 2 loading screen.
[
]Properly smoothed version of the original mesh. With no errors.[]An HD texture with minimally visible seams (altered to avoid that).
[]A custom icon befitting the (rather) visually distinct helmet.
[]A lore-friendly implementation as teased by the postcard above.
[]Recipes for sleeved and sleeveless versions of the helmet.
The helmet is slightly weaker than a T-51b Power Helmet, seeing as it has no eye-cover, but still comes with an impressive 5 DT. It has an object effect that gives +3 Melee Weapons, unlocking your inner tribal. It can't boast of much Item HP, but that's simply because it's quite broken. Currently there are two versions of the mod, one with no requirements and one that adds the Tribal Pack armor and machete to the Viper with the helmet, making him a proper tribal.
