Description

You may have wondered why the Strip seems so empty. Well, truth is, the game was rigged from the start. There are actually a fair number of perfectly functional, mostly-implemented NPCs already placed around the Strip, but they were likely cut late in development for performance reasons on console. As far as I am aware, no-one has touched these NPCs yet, probably due to difficulty in deciphering the scripts related to the Strip. This mod fully restores them.

Specifically, this mod restores:

  []2 Travelers (who are extra to the above, and seem to be from the project demos)[/]

  []1 MP Trooper[/]

  []1 NCR Trooper[/]

  []1 Securitron[/]

  All these NPCs were already placed (but disabled) and mostly implemented into all the Strip scripts. However, a few lacked positioning markers (more about that later) and AI packages. For the AI packages, I just gave them the generic sandbox package for the Strip.

  The number of NPCs may not seem like much, but because of the way the Strip works, it's actually quite significant. To save on performance, all the generic NPCs you see on the Strip are actually the same from area to area. If you move to the middle area of the Strip, all the NPCs are moved there from the North area, and if you then go to the South, all the NPCs are moved from the middle, etc. This means that the total number of 'new' NPCs across the whole Strip is effectively three times the number stated above, so 32 (the demo NPCs don't move between areas).

  This mod also fixes some errors in vanilla scripts that would erroneously disable NPCs, which should also contribute to The Strip feeling more populated.

  There are an additional four Securitrons that are placed on the Strip that I have not restored. This is because the script comments state that the maximum intended for use was five, and that the extra four were for modding or future use. These extra four also aren't implemented in the Securitron software upgrade scripts, so I thought it best to leave them out.

  In addition, there are five extra NCR Troopers and two extra MP Troopers that are already placed in the vanilla game, but disabled. I haven't uncut these, as it appears they were old placements that were superseded by the ones in the vanilla game and the two I restored.
