📋 About This Mod

The Why

It always bothered my OCD that we can see a huge glow from the strip but when you get there is it fairly underwhelming, especially with mods that darken the night. So I figured I'd address that. Now more versions are available due to requests.

Because this mod relies on Improved lighting shaders it will not be compatible with ENB, I recommend using ReShade anyway. I'm using Vanilla Plus ReShade Preset.

The What

Strip But Brighter - Places several lights in The Strip area of New Vegas, all with wide radius to give the proper ambient lighting that would be generated by large amounts of neon signs, street lights and other eg. fire from gommorah sign. Also cleans up the heap of dirt in front of The Tops and forced darker color of ground that didn't match the lighting. It is made for Simple Open Strip, mostly vanilla oriented and with weather mods that darken the nights in mind.

Strip 2023 But Brighter - Places same lights as the aforementioned version but with a more overhauled Strip in mind. Also fixes a minor issue with SCLO and its Strip 2023 patch. And moves one of Afterglow lights over the Ultra Lux to soften the pop-in effect. Below is outlined the proper load order, deviate from it at your own peril.

Brighter Freeside + McCarran also adds lights to Freeside and Camp McCarran in places where it felt like there should have been more ambient lighting. It can be used with the main file or without it. If you notice any problems while using the optional file, either with Simple Open Freeside or Vanilla make sure to report them.

The How

You can have other files in between mentioned files, only the order in which they are placed is important

    []Strip But Brighter.esp[/]

[]DNWeathers.esp (or any other weather mod that makes night darker, not obligatory but with vanilla brightness SBB will result in overbrightness)[/]

The rest of this section refers only to the Strip 2023 version

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Nearly 100,000 downloads show it's a go-to for many players.
  • Tiny mod that does exactly what it says—no bloat, no fuss.
  • Fixes a common gripe: the Strip looks dim compared to its distant glow.

⚠️ Cons

  • Only 43 endorsements—fewer than expected for the download count, so it might not be as polished as some.
  • Last updated in April 2026—could be outdated if the game has since patched.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Fallout: New Vegas players who want the Strip to feel as bright and inviting as the horizon promises. If you're a purist who thinks the Strip's dimness is intentional, skip it—this is purely cosmetic.
📦 Install:Easy· Under 1 minute

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Drop the files into your Data folder and enable the mod in your load order—no FNVEdit needed.
  • If you use a mod manager like Vortex, install it there and let it handle the load order automatically.
  • Pair with a lighting overhaul like Nevada Skies for a more dramatic effect, but test for conflicts.
