📋 About This Mod
This is my first mod, so I decided to do some thing simple.
- -Description--
- Basically, this mod replaces the sun glare in the game with 4 different ones. It is compatible with most weather mods.
- -Options--
- There are 4 options to choose from:
- CA, or 'Cinematic Anamorphic', has a lot of bloom and a slight Anamorphic lens-flare effect. Highly popular in sci-fi games and films
- RS,or 'Realistic Sun', makes the glare look as if it were from a camera. This type of glare is found in most shots that involve the sun.
- RA, or 'Realistic Anamorphic', basically takes the Realistic Sun but adds an Anamorphic lens flare effect. The best mix between realism and cinema-style gameplay.
- CS, or 'Cinematic Sun', is like Cinematic Anamorphic only without the Anamorphic lens effect.
- -Installation--
- To install, simply drag the 'textures' file to your data file, or use NMM or FOMM.
- To uninstall, delete the files.
- Remember to activate ArchiveInvalidation.
- -Compatibility--
- Works with Fellout, Nevada Skies, and Realistic Wasteland Lighting.
- Probably doesn't work for Project Reality MKII.
- -Programs Used--
- Space Engine . 97 (for reference pictures)
- GIMP 2. 8 (For Conversions and Edits)
- BSA Browser (to locate file directories of Nevada Skies so the glares can replace Yossarian22's)
- Fallout New Vegas (duh.)
Simple SunGlare Retextures replaces the default sun textures in Fallout: New Vegas with new variants, and also provides compatibility patches for Nevada Skies and FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting. It's a lightweight visual tweak for players who want a different sun appearance without overhauling the entire lighting system. With 202 endorsements and 7,426 downloads, it's a modest but appreciated mod.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Lightweight and simple—just drop in and go, no heavy scripts or performance hit.
- Community-tested with 202 endorsements and over 7,000 downloads, so it's proven to work.
- Gives you a fresh look for the sun without messing with the rest of your lighting setup.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2014—might not play nice with newer mods or game patches, so test it.
- Only changes the sun texture; if you want a full visual overhaul, this won't cut it.
- No screenshots or detailed install instructions in the description, so you're flying blind until you try it.
For Fallout: New Vegas players who want a quick, no-fuss visual tweak to the sun without overhauling their whole lighting mod setup. If you're already using Nevada Skies or FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting, this gives you a matching sun texture. Skip it if you're looking for dramatic visual changes—this is a minor cosmetic touch.
💡 Beginner Tips
- If you're using Nevada Skies or FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting, make sure to install the corresponding patch file, not the vanilla one.
- Since the mod is old, try it on a clean save first to avoid conflicts with other texture mods.
- Use a mod manager like Nexus Mod Manager or Mod Organizer 2 to easily toggle the textures on and off if you want to compare.
