📋 About This Mod
Short story: I made this mod because vanilla ammo is a mess without meaning. We have tons of guns and ammos but only thing which matters is DAM. I made in attempt to make gunfights look more logical and realistic. Pistols hit far weaker if target is armored while rifles receive AP bonus.
Explanation. Weapon/armor system in FNV is shit thanks to engine. You can't make it more unique and realistic without spending unholy amounts of time for changes and calculations. So it looks like every gun just does what damage it says period. My idea is to bring a bit more to it so I adjusted calibers for every vanilla gun. Its not extensive but it gives off vibe of fittingness. I also should mention that this mod was made to balance my TTW game and I can't say exactly how balanced NV weapons are now (since I haven't got to them yet, spare for few), but for TTW it seems really well.
Handguns (10mm,9mm,357 etc) now multiply DT of target by 30-75%. That means they become completely useless on heavy armored targets and their performance overall suffer with medium armor. Shotguns also receive 50% penalty to target's armor except for magnum ammo. Contrary rifle calibers (556, 5mm, 308 etc) receive - flat DT bonus akin to 5mm which makes them efficient and appropriate against armored targets. Its still not enough to punch through power armor but service rifle is no more useless against medium armored enemies. 5mm and 5. 56mm ignore 10DT, . 308 ignore 15 DT, 50MG ignore 20DT. For AP ammo DT is reduced further while . 50MG AP completely neutralize enemy armor. Finely energy weapons do not ignore armor by flat number but by percentage, so they will stay relevant yet perform better against armored targets. EC ignores 25% of target's armor, ECP ignores 30% and MFC ignores 35%. Overcharged and max charged cells ignore more armor while maximum charged MFC ignores 100% of target's armor (akin to . 50MG AP).
Hunter Rifle and Hunter Revolver was nerfed to balance for their high AP ammo (from ~50 damage to ~35). Also minimum (received if DT is higher) damage is set to 10% from vanilla 20%.
I feel like I should go through more weapons and achieve some sort of balance between ammo, armor and creatures, but for now it goes as it is.
I made this mod mostly to make my own game more dynamic and armor piercing is really brings difference in TTW (common assault rifles deals about 10-12 damage with 5. 56 ammo) so I'd advice you to try it out in case you use TTW. It also works pretty well with RWD.
