📋 About This Mod
Quick fix to a very specific problem I happened to catch while working on another armor mod and didn't see the fix to on Nexus.
So yeah, in NV the NCR Ranger Combat Armor and NCR Ranger Patrol Armor both use the same exact meshes for their gloves. Like, it's the exact same nif files. This isn't usually a problem because, especially in vanilla, that specific glove nif works for both armor sets to the point you may not even realize it's the same.
However, once you get a mod like Physically Based Rangers which specifically overhauls the Ranger Combat Armor, it may also change that specific nif and now suddenly the Ranger Patrol Armor has broken gloves that don't line up with the rest of the armor and look very out of place.
So, what this mod does is just make a separate instance of that glove mesh and assign the Ranger Patrol Armor specifically to use that separate instance.
Now, this will sorta conflict with any balance patches or what have you, so you'll need to go into FNVEdit, find the entry for the Patrol Armor and carry over the proper values for yourself. It's extremely simple to do and will guarantee everything is suited for your specific load order. Basically, I'm not gonna make a billion different patches for all the possible mixes of mods and patches.
This small utility mod for Fallout: New Vegas separates the glove meshes for Ranger Patrol Armor and Ranger Combat Armor, preventing them from sharing the same NIF file. It's designed for use with texture overhaul mods like Physically Based Rangers, ensuring gloves display correctly. With 222 endorsements and recent updates, it's a niche but useful fix for modded load orders.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Solves a real visual bug for players using texture mods on Ranger armor
- Lightweight and focused—does exactly one thing without bloat
- Active author (updated June 2026) and decent community trust (222 endorsements)
⚠️ Cons
- Only affects glove meshes—if you don't use texture overhauls, you won't notice any difference
- Requires a mod like Physically Based Rangers to be useful, so it's not standalone
For Fallout: New Vegas modders who use texture overhaul mods like Physically Based Rangers and want to fix the shared glove mesh issue on Ranger armor. Skip if you play vanilla or don't care about glove textures.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Install with a mod manager like Vortex or FOMM to avoid overwriting other mesh mods.
- Load this mod after any texture overhaul to ensure the glove fix takes priority.
- If you see no change, double-check that the mod is active and that your texture mod actually uses the separated NIFs.
