📋 About This Mod
Bizarrely, my little tweak was featured in PC Gamer\'s \"25 Best FO:NV Mods\". Link: http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/11/02/25-best-fallout-new-vegas-mods/2/ Plausible Starting Outfit ========================= By Agonofinis and The Girl Next Door Ver 1. 1 Description =========== I found it a little jarring that the first thing that the player wears when they step into this dusty wasteland was a bright blue Vault suit. It does not fit with the game or its style, and seems like a throwback to Fallout 3. This small tweak replaces the Vault suit with a more fitting garment in which to begin your journey, with custom meshes for the female outfit by The Girl Next Door. There is also a surprise waiting for you should you follow the main quest... Install ======= Extract the .esp file, the \"Meshes\" folder and the \"Texture\" folder to your New Vegas \"Data\" folder. Uninstall ========= Delete the .esp, meshes and textures from your New Vegas \"Data\" folder. Contact ======= You can find me on the Nexus or Bethesda official forums as \"Agonofinis\". Usage ===== You are free to utilise my mods as long as I am credited and notified if they are being altered. Compatability ============= Anything that adds the \"Stanley\'s Party Hat\" item to the game will be affected, as well as anything that changes Doc Mitchell\'s dialogue. Changelog ========= Ver 1. 1 - Added the \"secret\" to... SPOILER ALERT ... the Khan hideout in Boulder City. - Changed Doc Mitchell\'s dialogue to fit the mod. - Added The Girl Next Door\'s textures and meshes. Thanks ====== The Girl Next Door... again. :)
A clothing replacer for the start of the game, replacing the default starting outfit with a more plausible one. With 932 endorsements and 23,248 downloads, it's a popular choice for players seeking a more immersive early-game look. Last updated in 2010, so compatibility with newer game versions is uncertain.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community favorite with 932 endorsements and over 23k downloads.
- Adds a touch of realism to the starting gear without overhauling the whole game.
- Lightweight and focused—does exactly what it says.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2010—may not work with the latest game patches.
- Only affects the starting outfit—if you want more variety, this won't cut it.
For players who want a more believable starting outfit without changing the rest of the game. If you're a roleplayer who cares about immersion from the first minute, this is a quick fix. Skip if you're looking for a full wardrobe overhaul or need current compatibility.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's a replacer, it will overwrite the default outfit—make sure to back up your original files if you want to revert.
- Check the mod's file structure before installing; if it's a loose file, just drop it into your Data folder.
- If you're using a mod manager, load this mod early in your load order to ensure it doesn't get overwritten by other clothing mods.
