📋 About This Mod
What Does This Mod Do?
Replaces the physics impact audio for the following categories:
Generic small metal objects
Barrels
Glass bottles
Tin cans
Light and heavy impacts are covered. They're also correctly set up, unlike the original game, since by default Fallout 3 and New Vegas have much louder impact noises for light impacts, and quieter ones for heavy impacts.
Some Background:
I started this project about a year ago with the goal of replacing most physics sounds in the game. I think most of the physics sounds in Fallout 3 and New Vegas are extremely bad, just super jarring and awful to listen to, and I think it really takes away from the experience. I have done a lot of work in video editing, particularly with sound editing, and I used that knowledge to start working on this pack.
Unfortunately, I stopped modding for New Vegas a few months after starting this project, and I never ended up uploading it anywhere to be used. I felt like that was a shame, because even in its current state, this mod already replaces all of what I consider to be the most egregious SFX in the game. The sounds of barrels and small metal objects in particular have always been extremely bothersome to me, and those two replacements alone make a world of difference.
I don't plan on finishing this project myself, but I freely encourage anyone who wants to take up the challenge of replacing the physics sounds in the game to do so, and you're free to use this pack as a base to start working off of.
Compatibility:
This mod should be compatible with everything that doesn't do exactly the same thing. It edits no records, it just replaces raw sound files.
This mod is compatible with TTW.
Installation:
Nothing fancy, just install with your preferred mod manager.

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge community trust (1,314 endorsements) and massive download count (492k) — clearly a go-to for sound overhauls.
- Simple, focused improvement: better impact sounds for metal and glass without changing other audio.
- Recently updated (July 2024) so it's likely compatible with current game versions.
⚠️ Cons
- Only covers impact sounds for physics objects — if you want broader audio changes, this won't do it.
- Author hasn't specified which game this is for, so you'll need to verify compatibility yourself.
For players who notice and appreciate crunchy, realistic impact sounds when objects clatter. If you're tired of dull thuds and want a quick audio upgrade, this is for you. Skip if you're looking for a comprehensive sound overhaul — this only touches physics impacts.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Check the mod's file structure to see if it's a simple drop-in or requires a mod manager — the description doesn't say.
- If the game has a mod folder, place the files there; otherwise, you may need to overwrite game files, so back up the originals.
- Since the description doesn't mention the game, verify the mod's compatibility with your game version before installing.
