Perfect Skies

Modern, advanced clouds system replacement for vanilla and Weathers Revised, as well as modders resource. Procedurally generated volumetric 4K clouds which have been baked to a new dual-layer lighting system, with dozens of completely unique cloud variations and unique locational skies, adding over 200 new weathers.

This is my FNV entry for the Fallout 2025 Modathon. Support means a lot! This took dozens of hours of work and included paid software tools and development of a new proprietary cloud baking system.

Previously, all textures in the game and any mod were made in image editing tools by cutting out clouds from real-world pictures. Instead, this mod does not use any real-world pictures at all. Everything is computer-generated. This means that the clouds have perfect quality, with no imperfections which were previously common, particularly in modded clouds. Such as poor transparency, lighting, chromatic aberration, blur, pixelation. These clouds also have been baked into two separate textures, one which simulates lighting from the sun or moon, and another one which simulates the sky scattering through the clouds. This means that the same cloud texture can simulate multiple time of days and integrate with any location because no information is baked which is time or location specific. This system is more advanced than the one in Fallout 4. A script has been used to make the ESP plugins which extracts lighting from every weather and time of day individually.

In total there are 30 unique cloud variations and 60 4K textures, making up almost 1GB of cloud textures. The textures are compressed, but unlike other cloud textures, they only encode transparency which reduces artifacting. The textures have been further compressed to a BSA file to greatly reduce the disk space.

This is the ultimate clouds mod, in terms of quality, consistency and variety, with the ability to easily add even more options in the future easily and refine the mod based on feedback.
