People of Paradiso

The Idea

Fallout New Vegas tends to attract more than your average share of mods with anti-government leanings (whether in reference to the NCR, Vegas, or Legion), and that's interesting to us. However, we never felt satisfied with most of them, feeling their added factions, characters, and stories missed the mark in one way or another when it came to their anti-authoritarian philosophies. So, one day, we decided to work on our own take on the idea. Thus began Paradiso, a nudist commune that is added as a new faction to the Mojave. It is our first (and probably last) attempt at doing a proper quest mod, so please be kind. While mods like Coito Ergo Sum, Race to the Bottom, and the Overseer Series are our inspiration, we'll frankly admit our work does not even come close to the skill level of said mods. Also note that the characters are unvoiced. We simply didn't have the resources or money to get the characters properly voiced, but we hope you'll appreciate the written dialogue.

The Installation

Install it like any other New Vegas mod. You do need all of main DLCs. There aren't any conflicts that we know of. This mod also requires the current major script plugins: xNVSE, JIP LN NVSE Plugin, and SUP NVSE. It is also recommended that you use body replacer mods, but they are not required. Most of the characters are nude, but in vanilla the nude underwear is PG. If you use full nude replacers, they can be truly nude! In our screenshots, we use the non-nude versions of Type 4 and Robert, but any replacers can probably be used. In addition, there is an optional android patch that adds two custom characters that use the Daughters of Ares and Project Apollo android races. The patch uses no assets from those mods, only requiring and referencing them; we just thought it'd be cool for there to be android NPCs and not just the player character.

The Faction

We made Paradiso hidden to minimize conflicts with other mods, and the faction has a singular main quest with several stages. So think more Followers of the Apocalypse rather than New California Republic. We tried to keep the Fallout New Vegas quest design philosophy in that the quest can be discovered in multiple ways. You needn't randomly stumble upon it. You can start the quest in NCRCF, Hidden Valley, Cottonwood Cove, the NCR Embassy, Red Rock Canyon, and the Lucky 38 (android patch only). Once you find Paradiso, the quest guides you through helping the people that live there, and you can also just chat with them about things, their lives, and their opinions. Even if some people die during the quest, sometimes the quest can continue anyway, though of course the quest will fail if too many people die to be able to continue it. Also, there are multiple ways to deal with the final "boss" character.
