📋 About This Mod
Description:
Expands the vanilla trespassing mechanic to make NPCs warn and follow the player around if they are in a restricted area. Examples include behind the counter of most vendors or "personal" areas like the second floor of Mick and Ralphs (there is no reason for a customer to be up there). Inspired by a similar feature in FNVGO. So far, edited areas include Goodsprings General Store (behind the counter), Prospector Saloon (behind the counter & in the office), Vikki and Vance (safe room), Primm Mojave Express (living area), Mojave Outpost Barracks (behind the counter), Quarry Junction Mess Hall (behind the counter & back room), Dino-Dee-lite Front Desk (behind desk), Silver Rush (behind the counter, near locked door that leads upstairs, bathroom area), Miguel's Pawn Shop (behind counter), Mick & Ralphs (behind counter, upstairs), Big Horn Saloon (behind counter, Ike's room), Klamath Bob's Liquor Store (behind counter), and the New Vegas Medical Clinic (behind counter).
If you have any ideas for areas that should be changed, let me know!
Off Limits expands Fallout 4's trespassing mechanic to logical areas like vendor counters, making theft and exploration riskier. With 242 endorsements and 54,321 downloads, it's a niche gameplay tweak for immersive players. Last updated January 2025, it remains relevant for current game versions.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Adds a layer of realism for immersive players who want consequences for sneaking into off-limits areas.
- Community-approved with 242 endorsements and over 54k downloads—clearly a mod people trust.
- Lightweight and focused; doesn't bloat your load order with unnecessary changes.
⚠️ Cons
- Niche appeal—if you don't care about trespassing mechanics, this won't change your game much.
- Potential conflicts with other mods that alter vendor AI or settlement boundaries—test carefully.
For Fallout 4 players who enjoy immersive roleplay and want theft to feel riskier. If you're a stealth character who loves looting every corner, this mod will make you think twice. Skip if you prefer a more forgiving sandbox experience.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since this mod tweaks vanilla behavior, it's best to load it after other gameplay overhauls to ensure compatibility.
- If you use a mod manager like Vortex or MO2, let it handle the file placement—manual install is fine too, but mod manager makes uninstalling easier.
- Test near a vendor in Diamond City to see the new trespassing zones in action before relying on it in survival mode.
