📋 About This Mod

This mod is a part of my enormous overhaul mod called AWN - After War Nevada - Complete Overhaul Mod. It took me 2 years to create it, so check it out!

I bet that many people were looking for a similar mod like this one - and because I didn't see any mod which balanced Intelligence and gained Skill Points - I uploaded my own. This plugin is part of my quite big Overhaul Mod for New Vegas which is still in development.

I made a simple script which changes formula of gained Skill Points via player's Intelligence stat.

Optimized scripts and fixed a bug with getting/losing 1 Skill Point every 2 levels with uneven values of Intelligence.

Added few plugins more to increase variation.

This is the final version, because everything finally works as intended.

Vanilla formula (Default): 10 SP + 1 SP for every 2 points of Intelligence, so with 1 Intelligence player has 10 Skill Points and with 10 Intelligence he has 15 Skill Points per level.

My formula (Normal): 5 SP + 1 SP for every point of Intelligence, so with 1 Intelligence player has only 6 Skill Points and with 10 Intelligence he has 15 Skill Points per level.

My formula (Increased): 10 SP + 1 SP for every point of Intelligence, so with 1 Intelligence player has 11 Skill Points and with 10 Intelligence he has 20 Skill Points per level.

My formula (Hardcore) 0 SP + 1 SP for every point of Intelligence, so with 1 Intelligence player has only 1 Skill Point and with 10 Intelligence he has 10 Skill Points per level.

My formula (High): 5 SP + 2 SP for every point of Intelligence, so with 1 Intelligence player has 7 Skill Points and with 10 Intelligence he has 25 Skill Points per level.

My formula (Very High): 10 SP + 2 SP for every point of Intelligence, so with 1 Intelligence player has 12 Skill Points and with 10 Intelligence he has 30 Skill Points per level.

My formula (Semi Hardcore): 0 SP + 2 SP for every point of Intelligence, so with 1 Intelligence player has 2 Skill Points and with 10 Intelligence he has 20 Skill Points per level.

My formula (Decreased): 5 SP + 1 SP for every 2 points of Intelligence, so with 1 Intelligence player has 5. 5 Skill Points and with 10 Intelligence he has 10 Skill Points per level.

My formula (Hard Hardcore): 0 SP + 1 SP for every 2 points of Intelligence, so with 1 Intelligence player has 0. 5 Skill Point and with 10 Intelligence he has 5 Skill Points per level.

There are also optional plugins which change Tagged Skills.

Vanilla (Default) Tagged Skills give you one time 15 Skill Point bonus to your chosen Skill, but I guess that most of you will agree with me that it's almost useless and it should be somewhat more rewarding in

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

With 458 endorsements and over 10,800 downloads, it's a community-approved tweak for players who want a more balanced character progression. Last updated in 2012, so it's an older mod but still relevant for classic playthroughs.

🎯 Is This For You?
For Fallout: New Vegas players who want a more balanced skill progression without overhauling the entire game. If you're tired of Intelligence being a dump stat or Tagged Skills feeling underwhelming, this mod is for you. Skip if you prefer vanilla balance or want a more extensive gameplay overhaul.

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Since it's an older mod, check if you're using any other mods that alter skill points or tagged skills—load order might matter.
  • Test the changes early in a new playthrough to see if the balance feels right for your build.
  • If you're using a mod manager, install it manually or via manager—either works for this simple mod.
