📋 About This Mod
So, if one thing bugged me about FNV, it was the lack of encounters. I mean, it was just empty expanses of land with the occasional enemy sprinkled hither and thither. Maybe some Legion Assassins too. It got boring to travel between towns and settlements, from caves to The Strip itself. I always liked the idea of encounters in the Wasteland, and it's one of the reasons I hold Fallout 3 in such high regard. Taking inspiration from Fallout 3, I decided to get to work. Hence, this new mod series titled Encounters of The Mojave.
What this mod does is add set, scripted encounters (Not to be confused with Random Encounters, as I don't know how to code those) to Black Mountain. From disgruntled Super Mutants to trapped NCR troopers, and even a doomed Protectron!
DISCLAIMER: THIS MOD WILL ASSUME YOU'VE STARTED A NEW GAME, THEREFORE A NEW GAME STRONGLY RECOMMENDED FOR SOME ENCOUNTERS TO MAKE SENSE. A NEW GAME IS NOT REQUIRED, HOWEVER, IF YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT ANYTHING MAKING SENSE!
Even better, I've had ALL of these encounters custom voiced, some by people I've worked with in the past and you may recognize from my other mods, some who are new to me but veterans to the voice over scene, and others who are just starting out! Shoutout to them all below!

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Solid community backing with 180 endorsements and 6.5k downloads.
- Fresh update (Dec 2025) — likely compatible with current game versions.
- Simple concept: more life in Black Mountain without overhauling the game.
⚠️ Cons
- No details on what the encounters actually are — could be anything from NPCs to events.
- Small scope: only affects Black Mountain, so if you're not exploring there, it's pointless.
For New Vegas players who've explored Black Mountain a dozen times and want new surprises. If you're a completionist or roleplayer looking to spice up that area, this is for you. Skip if you want broad changes — this is a tiny, focused mod.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's a scripted encounter mod, make sure you have the latest NVSE and any required patches if you use other mods that alter Black Mountain.
- If you're using a mod manager, just drop the file into your load order — but check for conflicts with other Black Mountain overhauls.
- Test it by fast-traveling to Black Mountain and wandering around — encounters may trigger based on location or quest progress.
