📋 About This Mod
9 new models. High poly meshes with NiLODNodes to help performance.
Regenerate LOD for a better experience.
Due to popular demand and thanks to WallSoGB a performance overview. This is based on several takes of 90s.
The current version of the mod uses Screen LOD 50%, which performed slightly better than vanilla.
The release version of the mod used Range LOD, which is slightly slower.
Full LOD is if only the lower poly meshes are used.
No LOD is if only the higher poly meshes of the mod are used.
Thank you Wall for reminding me of Screen LOD and for the profiling.
The models are not identical to the ones in the vanilla game so there might be clipping in places.
The rock rubble is liberally scaled in the vanilla game. Some of the extremely oversized cases can create issues for npc pathing.

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community favorite with 845 endorsements and 31k downloads — clearly fills a need.
- Simple visual upgrade that makes the desert feel less copy-paste.
- Lightweight and focused — no gameplay changes, just better-looking rubble.
⚠️ Cons
- Only affects rock rubble — don't expect changes to other desert props.
- Last updated March 2026 — may not be compatible with future game patches.
For players who spend a lot of time in desert biomes and are tired of the same old rock piles. If you're a builder or explorer who wants a bit more visual variety without overhauling the whole game, this is a quick win. Skip if you're looking for gameplay changes or a full desert retexture.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since this is a texture/model replacement, make sure you place the files in the correct data folder or use a mod manager to avoid overwriting vanilla assets.
- If you're using other desert overhaul mods, check load order to ensure this mod's rubble doesn't get overwritten.
- Back up your original files if you're manually installing, so you can revert if you don't like the look.
